What is the “Earthquake” at the Lord's Second Coming in Matthew 24? (Shincheonji Church)

by - 11:47

📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.

"Earthquakes that take place at the Second Coming are spiritual earthquakes; hearts shaken due to spiritual warfare"

There have been many earthquakes in the 2,000 years since Jesus left. In order to welcome the Lord, you must know the difference between the earthquakes that have occurred to date, and the earthquake at the time of the Second Coming.

Firstly, let's understand the physical earthquake compared to that recorded in the Bible. Earthquake (地震) refers to the  ground of the earth, shock (震), and its dictionary definition is a phenomenon in which the earth shakes and splits. However, the earthquake the Bible speaks of is a spiritual earthquake. Since the Bible says that the heart of a person is the earth (Luke 8:15, 1 Corinthians 3:9), the analogy of an earthquake here means that the heart of a person is shaken.

Let's find out when and where the earthquake prophesied in Matthew 24 occurs. 2000 years ago, Jesus said that after fleeing Jerusalem, not one stone of the temple in Jerusalem would be left on another, but all would collapse. When the disciples heard these words, they approached Jesus and asked when the destruction of the temple would take place and what the signs marking the end of the age and the Lord's Second Coming would be.

Jesus first told us to be careful about man's deception, and that two nations would be at war when his Second Coming takes place, with famines and earthquakes in various places. This is what happens when the temple in Jerusalem is destroyed through war, and it is an event that takes place within the temple, or church.

The fulfilment of Matthew 24 takes place at the end of the age, which is the second coming of Jesus, and the place where the events are fulfilled is the tabernacle of the chosen people - Jerusalem's Temple - which appears at the Lord's Second Coming, just like Jerusalem at the first coming of Jesus.

What kind of nations are the two nations that oppose each other at the Second Coming of the Lord? There are many nations in the world today, but from God's perspective, there are only two; one that belongs to God and the other that belongs to Satan. This is the chosen church of Jerusalem, the kingdom of God, called 'heaven' in Revelation 13, where the group of the dragon invades. This group of the dragon is the organisation of Babylon, which is the kingdom of gentile demons recorded in Revelation chapters 17 and 18. It refers to a gentile denomination - spiritual Babylon - that takes the place of physical Babylon which destroyed the chosen people of Jerusalem in the Old Testament.

What kind of war takes place between these two nations, and what are the famines and earthquakes that appear at this time?

The war recorded in Ephesians 6:12-17 is not one of wrestling against flesh and blood, but against evil spirits. The chosen people are told to put on the full armour of God and the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is the word of God. It is evident that this is not a literal war, but a spiritual one.

Let's look at the time of the fulfilment of the book of Revelation, which is when Matthew 24 is fulfilled. At this time, like John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus 2000 years ago, the tabernacle temple of the seven stars and seven golden lampstands appear to prepare the way for the Lord. Due to the subsequent betrayal of the seven stars, Satan's destroyer Nicolaitans, who are pastors of Satan and the beast with 7 heads and 10 horns, enter the tabernacle of heaven. Later, following a war with the chosen people at this location, they are captured and fed food sacrificed to idols to kill the spirits of these chosen people within the tabernacle. This is the reality of the war between the two nations - Jerusalem, the kingdom of God, and Babylon, the kingdom of demons - in Matthew 24. This war is the same as that fought between John the Baptist and the Pharisees 2000 years ago at the first coming.

This becomes a spiritual and religious war where the destroyer stands in the holy place, as promised in Matthew 24. As a result of this religious war, the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed without one stone left on another, according to Jesus' promise. The temple in Jerusalem, which was defeated in the war, became corrupt and one's love became cold. Therefore, there is a spiritual famine where the word of God no longer came to exist as spiritual food. The chosen people of heaven's tabernacle who lived in the temple of Jerusalem were deceived by false pastors belonging to the dragon, and their hearts were shaken. This is the true meaning of the spiritual earthquake prophesied in Matthew 24.

The earthquake in Matthew 24 is not a literal earthquake, but a figurative one that refers to spiritual warfare between two nations - Jerusalem, the kingdom of God, and Babylon, the kingdom of demons - that shook the hearts of the chosen people in the temple of Jerusalem.

Pastor A of the Korean Baptist Church
"It is one of the signs before Jesus' Second Coming. Here there will be famines and earthquakes everywhere. Think for a moment about earthquakes. The problem of earthquakes has now become serious. In the first decade of the 20th century, there were 3 earthquakes with a magnitude of 6 or more, 310 larger earthquakes between 1980 and 1990, and 747 earthquakes with a magnitude of 6 or more between 1990 and 1994.

Now, their intensity has been increasing and continuing on more powerful than magnitude 9. Its intensity is increasing and Korea is becoming less safe. In the 16th chapter of Revelation in the Bible, it is
recorded that cities around the world are destroyed by earthquakes.

As God now says in the Bible, the earthquake and the ground continue to shake."
