On 21st May 2020, Cheonji Ilbo (Daily) published an article entitled "Is This A Communist ‘People's Court'? The Deception of Coercive Conversion". This is a translation of that article.

The once unknown term 'forced conversion' became a serious topic in Korean society in 2008 after Pastor Yong-Sik Jin sent Mrs. Baek-Hyang Jeong to a psychiatric ward in order to carry out forced conversion. He was later punished by law. At that time Pastor Jin, who headed up the Heresy Investigation Committee of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), forcibly converted believers who belonged to denominations of the established church labelled so-called 'cults', including Mrs. Jeong’s. Such cases began to rise in leaps and bounds. At first, pastors carried out ‘forced conversion’ (also termed ‘deprogramming’ or ‘coercive conversion’) themselves, but later altered their approach. Today, forced conversion pastors instil fear and anxiety in the families of Shincheonji Church members by slandering Shincheonji Church, so that families are deceived into believing their beloved child, wife or parent has fallen into a ‘cult’ and are prone to making immediate hasty decisions. In order to prevent this, forced conversion programs tainted by illegal practices that include kidnap, confinement and violence become the 'last straw' to save the family. In 21st century South Korea, where issues around religious freedom have been brought to the limelight, ‘forced conversion’ continues unabated. This paper intends to serialise the distressing appeals of victims who have had to endure human rights violations and oppression through forced conversion, and are otherwise unable to voice their plea.

Slander Spouted by Conversion Pastors Deceives Family into a Horrid Decision
Take her to a Church in Ansan for Conversion
Monitored by Surveillance Cameras Everywhere, even in Toilets
Mocked for Disagreeing with their Accusations
Fake Submission Was Only Way to Escape

[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Kang Soo-Kyung] Families which have undergone the forced conversion programme are often left on the brink of collapse. The reason for the collapse of the family unit is forced conversion pastors who interrupt the family unit by slandering one family member’s religious beliefs. The hatred that this stirs within the family unit is beyond comprehension. Victims testify that they were subject to a Communist-style People's Court. So-hee Choi (pseudonym) is one such victim of forced conversion. What follows is an account of So-hee Choi's appeal.

At the end of July 2005, I went to Pastor Jin's ‘A’ Church in Ansan to receive forced conversion education.

One day, my father-in-law who was poorly called me and told me that he wanted me to go and visit him urgently. My husband told me to leave immediately, so I packed my bags and, together with my children, we went to his home.

As my husband was always busy working, it was difficult for him to spend a day or two there, but on that day even after visiting my in-laws in Cheonan, he asked me to go the next day.

I left my children at my sister-in-law's house, while my husband, sister, brother and I got into the car.

I fell asleep, and when we arrived at Ansan I was taken to a small studio where I was sat down in front of my parents, brother and sister.

When I looked inside, I noticed all my personal belongings had been brought in. I was dumbfounded and thought this was pathetic. Should I laugh? Should I cry? My husband told me that he had resigned from his job and would stay in the studio with me receiving Pastor Jin’s teaching until I renounced my beliefs; whether that takes one or two years.

My father-in-law, who was not in good shape, was silent. Everyone else turned towards me and told me to give up my faith. They said that our family had become troubled by it, and that I should do so for the sake of maintaining peace within our family.

My husband had already paid 5 million won to secure this one-bedroom studio and told me I was being stubborn.

My husband also told me, 'I’ve transferred our children to a school in Cheonan.'

It was an outrageous decision to make transferring our children, who had not yet acclimatised to their new life moving from the US to Korea.

In such a situation, I was forced to receive conversion education and was taken to the 2nd floor of ‘A church’.

As I entered, an evangelist was seated in front of a chalkboard. Conversion education began as my husband and sister-in-law sat on either side of the desk. I was surrounded by other family members and church members who had been converted from other religions.

Conversion education was carried out like an interrogation as everyone watched. The conversion pastor interrogated me forcefully.

I was given a series of 'Yes/No' questions.

When I gave a different response, they started to laugh at the church I belonged to.

I answered their questions with a Biblical story, and the conversion pastor who was teaching me got angry and even slammed the desk. In response, even my father rebuked the conversion pastor.

Education lasted from 10am-8pm without a break, and when I went to the bathroom, I was observed. I wasn't allowed to go out and could only eat the food provided.

The church building was equipped with surveillance cameras throughout, and the pastor observed everything I was doing.

The next day, education took place in the one-bedroom studio from 10am-8pm, but I couldn't absorb any of their Biblical teachings. My body and mind was shattered from the many accusations and forced conversion education I had received.

It was so painful being there. I felt sick to the point of death and missed my children. I wailed because I missed my children so much. The conversion pastor responded with laughter.

Education began in the morning on the third day.

When Pastor Jin came in and told me things that I couldn't agree on, I pretended to accept it.

I asked Pastor Jin, 'Why are you doing this?' and he said 'to make money'. His answer shocked me so much.

On the third day, my mother pleaded with me to renounce my faith so that my whole family could live at peace.

In order to escape this painful and terrible situation, I had to pretend to be converted.

I was riddled with guilt and pain because I thought I was deceiving my family. But I wanted to talk to my family, not with a conversion pastor.

After the period of conversion education ended, my family cottoned on to the fact that I hadn’t been converted and they were initially angry. But I continued to engage in dialogue with them.

As the conversion pastor left the relationship between my family and I, they began to gradually acknowledge my faith as we dialogued.

However, my family had been scarred by what the conversion pastor did. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't return to our previous life of peace and harmony. Truly the real perpetrator of forced conversion is the pastor.

This pastor played on my family's affections to his own benefit, disguising his intentions with the words 'holy mission’ and ‘salvation'.

As a victim of the forced conversion programme, I hope that the reality of this sick and twisted conversion pastor will be revealed to the world, so that there will be no further victims.

Visit to a relative's house, kidnapped by my family
Caught and suffocated as I tried to escape
Peace at home shattered by conversion pastors
Bitter scepticism towards life led to attempted suicide

[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Kang Soo-kyung] It is hard to conceive that a programme created by the established Church to forcibly convert Shincheonji Church members has become so prevalent in Korean society where human rights are recognised. Cases of kidnap, imprisonment and drugging with sleeping pills are disturbing, as is the violence used in the process. The life of 33-year young Dong-won Kim (pseudonym) was shattered by abuse from his family, leading to attempted suicide. Kim implores that no one else goes through the same experience. What follows is an account of Kim's appeal.

I am a 33-year-old father living in Busan with my family and daughter.

I don't have a gift for writing, but I hope that everyone will read this and it becomes a force for change so that this no longer happens.

Eight years ago, I lived under the belief that my father's school was teaching elementary and junior high school kids to help my parents work even if it was not enough.

Then one day, a call came from my aunt in Busan asking me to come to a play that evening.

In the evening, we ate dinner and had a drink.

After having enjoyed myself, I had to leave as it became late, but my aunt suddenly stopped me.

When asked why I couldn’t leave, they kept telling me to stay and eventually stopped me from leaving the house. Then my family came into my aunt's house and they all overpowered me.

I was feeling weaker, heavier and was losing my senses.

When I awoke, I found myself in my parents' car with my father on the wheel and my mother and brother watching from either side to keep me from escaping.

My cell phone and wallet had been stolen. I was dragged somewhere without understanding anything,. It was a few hours later that I saw a signpost outside the window showing that we were passing Daejeon.

Soon after, we pulled over at a motel. My family dragged me out, and I saw the first person waiting for us. My parents left while he dragged me into the motel. I was filled with anxiety and dread at the thought of being imprisoned.

Do you know what it feels like to have a family who birth and raise you, only to now kidnap and imprison you?

I pleaded with my parents to tell me why they were doing this, but my family didn't listen.

I was very fearful of the sudden change in my family's behaviour; they had always respected me. I somehow had to leave and managed to escape, but I was caught by my father and brother. When I resisted, they threw me on the ground and strangled me with the tie I was wearing until I fainted.

My eyes were becoming heavier and my body drooping and I thought I was dying. When I opened my eyes, I was being dragged up the motel staircase by my father and brother.

My mother, who was near me, was in tears.

I was confined in a room on the fourth floor. When I had passed out for the first time in my own family's hands, it seemed like familial love had collapsed in an instant, only to be replaced with treachery.

My parents told me that I had fallen into a cult and that I had to study the Bible again because I had studied it somewhere outside the Presbyterian Christian Council of Korea (then-Chairman Ki-chong Han).

At that time, I was a grown 26-year-old man, but I felt like every facet of my private life was being exposed.

I didn’t understand. We all believed in the same God and had faith in the same Bible, so why couldn’t I study it outside church? When I was told I had to meet someone for conversion counselling, I told them I didn't want to meet anyone, but they didn’t accept that.

After keeping me in confinement, my father went out to meet someone alone, and continued to question me whenever he returned.

That’s when I began to feel that someone was quietly manipulating my father. This became clearer as time passed on.

So I was incarcerated for three days before I could return to my own home in Busan. When I returned, the situation escalated. After three days imprisonment, I lived under strict surveillance at home, and any mutual trust between us had dissipated. I became very detached from them.

Since then, my family who had trusted me became distrustful and continually suspicious of everything I did.

A peaceful family was destroyed overnight by conversion pastors.

Under such circumstances, my will to live gradually collapsed, and I was disillusioned with my life. I tried to commit suicide because of the pain.

At that time, I was anticipating marriage. It was incredibly hard seeing my life fall apart.

If it for wasn't my wife then I don’t know if...

It wasn't long before all this happened that Pastor Mo Jin - a self-proclaimed “cult expert” and senior pastor of Ansanmo Church led by Ki-Chong Han - received an injunction.

Pastor Jin instilled fear in my parents by telling them that if I remained in a cult, I would be encouraged to not only stop working and give up their studies but even leave home.

Pastor Jin further unsettled my parents by telling them that if there was a way to get me out of a cult, he would help provide them with the means to do so through conversion education.

Moreover, he manipulated my agitated parents with all kinds of lies as he demanded money.

I could barely understand how this person could be carrying out the Lord's work as a pastor.

Who is the one who really destroys homes ... .

Conversion pastors who deceive parents into carrying out all kinds of evil and trickery including imprisonment, assault and kidnap do not believe in God or Jesus.

God and Jesus commanded that we love, forgive and bless one another. Are their actions those that express love, forgiveness and blessing? I make this earnest plea that there are no further victims.

I wish you all good health, laughter and joy in your homes. Thank you!

As of 17th May 2020, South Korea has registered 168 known cases of COVID-19 from a case that emerged in Seoul’s Itaewon nightlife scene in early May 2020. Korean media has not shied from voicing its criticism of the incident with young men and women fearful of coming forward for testing of COVID-19 for fear of having their names made public. Yet on May 10th, the South Korean prime minister spoke at a meeting of the conference of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19, saying, "In the viewpoint of quarantining, denunciation of a particular group doesn't help. If contacts avoid diagnostic testing out of fear of criticism, our whole society will have to shoulder all the consequences."

The response by the Korean central government and local governments to a potential second outbreak of COVID-19 has been radically different to their response to the primary outbreak that centred on "patient 31" on February 20th - the 31st confirmed case of a female congregation member of Shincheonji Church in Daegu. The central government and local government officials immediately labelled Shincheonji Church as the 'epicenter' of the initial COVID-19 outbreak, enforcing "maximum measures". Shincheonji Church responded to all government instructions and immediately shut down its Daegu branch church, all 73 branch churches throughout South Korea and all branch churches worldwide, forbidding gatherings of any kind with services being held online. Although megachurches throughout Korea resumed worship service two weeks ago, Shincheonji Church has decided to remain shut until the pandemic has come to a complete end.

Moreover, the recent COVID-19 outbreak in Seoul's Itaewon neighbourhood took place as social distancing measures were being relaxed while the unfortunate case in Shincheonji Church, Daegu, occurred during a worship service when there were no social distancing measures deemed necessary by the government. “Patient 31” and Shincheonji Church were following government guidelines at that time.

As the Korean prime minister said, denouncing a particular group is wrong and the virus can be transmitted to anyone within a confined space. Yet Shincheonji Church members have been on the receiving end of very severe persecution that has led to two deaths because of their affiliation to Shincheonji Church. Moreover, domestic and international media outlets and Korean politicians have framed Shincheonji Church a 'cult' and the epicenter of the initial COVID-19 outbreak.

Renowned Italian sociologist and founder and Managing Director of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR), Massimo Introvigne, discussed the issues facing Shincheonji Church amid the pandemic. Dr. Introvigne has highlighted his concerns about the victimisation of Shincheonji Church by Korean and international media outlets, saying, “Shincheonji has become a scapegoat during this epidemic.” He added, "I was horrified to come across so much inaccurate nonsense about Shincheonji in international media outlets." Moreover, in contrast to media allegations made from 18th February that Shincheonji Church had supplied incorrect data of its churches, members and buildings worldwide, the Korean deputy minister of Health, Kim Kang-lip himself said that the “discrepancies were minor and that Shincheonji had not been guilty of supplying incomplete or false data.”

Shincheonji Church has published its statement in response to media allegations as follows:-
“This is our earnest request: please stop the cursing and hatred towards Shincheonji. And we ask some media outlets that are slandering and suppressing Shincheonji using unconfirmed information and fake news to stop immediately.”

* We are the people bound to receive the world (global community) as a gift from God. Therefore, we, who will receive all the inheritance, must become fully equipped in order to renew all nations. It is only then we can restore all creation which has been distorted by Satan, back to its original image.

Proverbs 2:1~5
1. My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,

2. turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,

3. and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4. and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

* It is joyful to think about God's kingdom. Can you imagine how great God's world will be when it is completed? It will be more beautiful than anything of this world.  Thus, let us become "Great people" if we are to live in such a "Great world".

Prominent human rights and religious freedoms organisations including the U.S Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), religious leaders and leading academics are speaking out against South Korean media's deplorable treatment of Shincheonji Church members in light of the recent deaths of two female congregation members who, in separate incidents, "fell out" of their apartment windows after experiencing long-term domestic abuse because of their religious affiliation. Shincheonji Church has now recorded some 7000 acts of forced leave of absence, discrimination and insult against its church members since the rise of domestic COVID-19 cases from February 18th 2020. Persecution has been fuelled almost entirely by 'fake news'.

In a most recent report published by EIN Newswire, Dr. Massimo Introvigne, founder and managing director of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR) who himself has studied Shincheonji Church, has highlighted his concerns about the victimisation of Shincheonji Church by Korean and international media outlets. Dr. Introvigne said, "I was horrified to come across so much inaccurate nonsense about Shincheonji in international media outlets." He confirmed that following the confirmed case of "Patient 31" on February 18th 2020, who is a 61-year-old female church member in Daegu, Shincheonji Church complied with government and health authorities and immediately "closed all its churches in the country.” In contrast to media allegations made from 18th February that Shincheonji Church had supplied incorrect data of its worldwide churches, members and affiliated buildings, the Korean deputy minister of Health, Kim Kang-lip himself said that the “discrepancies were minor and that Shincheonji had not been guilty of supplying incomplete or false data.”

Dr. Introvigne went on to label the absurd accusation that Shincheonji Church members regard themselves as immune to illness or refuse modern medicine or medical tests when needed by saying that such claims are "totally false".

The reasons Dr. Introvigne cites for the blind acceptance of domestic news reports by international media outlets are rooted in the corruption of Protestant Christianity in Korea today. Protestant Church members have been flocking in large number to Shincheonji Church - as evidenced by last year's unprecedented growth of 103,764 graduates - and its leadership is embroiled in political scandal as they seek to secure votes from church members to further their political agenda. Dr. Introvigne concludes that established fundamentalist groups that have more political backing are using the pandemic as a pretext to up their campaign against Shincheonji Church and fundamentalist anti-cult Korean Protestants are engaged in shameful profiteering.

Indeed, a report just published by Human Rights Without Frontiers (HRWF) entitled “Coercive Change of Religion in South Korea” details over 1500 domestic cases of 'coercive conversion'; a practice in which parents kidnap and detain their adult child at the counsel of so-called "pastors" so that pastors can “deprogram” or “de-convert” them from what they view as a ‘cult.’ It is an amoral and criminal practice. Pastors affiliated to the Protestant Christian Council of Korea (CCK), who carry out such programmes, were convicted of 12,000 crimes that include forgery, embezzlement, assault and murder from 2008-2018. This is the reality of Protestant Christianity in South Korea today.

(On 6th May 2020, Cheonji Ilbo (Daily) published an article entitled "Drugged, Handcuffed, Kidnapped, Confined; it’s OK, they Belong to Shincheonji! Today’s ‘Cult Framing' that Violates Human Rights and Tears Families Apart." This is a translation of that article.)

(Above photo) On MBC’s True Story Expedition, which aired on the 29th last month, a victim of forced conversion, Mr. Park, admitted that he had been kidnapped and handcuffed by his brother and taken to a conversion programme run by the ‘Heresy Investigation Committee’. Celebrities in attendance on the show reacted in shock, but raised no issue with it.
On April 29th, MBC's True Story Expedition reported that a victim of forced conversion had been working on his parents’ farm. He explains why the family was torn apart in 2007 and what he was trying to do.

Illegal 'forced conversion' that undermines the values of the Constitution
'Coercive conversion pastors, family + media' all justify such activity

“Because it is Shincheonji…” Blinded by one lens
Families become puppets for conversion pastors

Media advocates for victims
Emotional appeals tolerated for criminal acts
“Third-Party Intervention Worsens the Issue”

[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Kang Su-gyeong] Forced conversion involving confinement in an unknown 'third place' continues unabated. Victims are fed sleeping pills, handcuffed, bound with rope and blindfolded. Coercive conversion is not a criminal offence in South Korea - a country which promotes freedom of religion. But it becomes a very different story when accompanied by kidnap, imprisonment and assault. When supporting evidence of various Articles is provided including articles 283 (Intimidation), 276 (Illegal Confinement), 260 (Violence) and 257 (Bodily Injury), it is a criminal offence worthy of legal punishment. However, in South Korea, acts of forced conversion go unpunished under the pretext of it being a ‘family matter’ where its illegality is justified through reports of families using force.
On MBC’s True Story Expedition, which aired on the 29th last month, a victim of forced conversion, Mr. Park, admitted that he had been kidnapped and handcuffed by his brother and taken to a conversion programme run by the ‘Heresy Investigation Committee’. Celebrities in attendance on the show reacted in shock, but raised no issue with it.

◆They confessed to drugging, handcuffing and abducting victims, but this was overlooked
On the 29th last month, MBC re-examined Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which appeared in the MBC PD Handbook in 2007 on a programme called 'True Story Expedition' which featured well-known celebrities including Dong-yeop Shin (MC). At that time, Shincheonji Church was in serious conflict with the victim’s parents because of the forced conversion programme.

Mr. A, who had strong faith in Shincheonji Church, was in his 20s at that time, and is now in his 40s. Mr. A’s family tried to take him to conversion programme by force. Mr. A's older brother, who appeared in the broadcast, admitted that he had committed the crime, saying, "I fed him sleeping pills, handcuffed and kidnapped him." The victim's testimony explains that this was an instruction given by so-called ‘conversion pastors’ to the victim’s family to force him out of Shincheonji Church. This was confirmed once again through the broadcast. It was a shocking confession made by the victim’s family who were trying to forcefully bring him to a conversion programme tied and bound.

However, the broadcaster ignored the human rights abuses inflicted on Mr. A. Indeed, Mr. A was depicted as someone with unusual religious behaviour. After having reported the slanderous cases made against Shincheonji Church, he focused on his family's stance towards his faith. He affirmed that his choice of religion was willingly made in line with his beliefs, yet his religious activities were portrayed by his family as being 'a waste of life'. The MC was in agreement. Criticism of the media’s biased perspective was inevitable as they lost impartiality promoting one perspective alone.
On April 29th, MBC's True Story Expedition reported that a victim of forced conversion had been working on his parents’ farm. He explains why the family was torn apart in 2007 and what he was trying to do.
◆Even with efforts made to overcome religious conflicts within the family, people frown at victims
What further fault did Mr. A commit against his family other than living out his religious beliefs? During those days, Mr. A was living a sincere life of faith as a Shincheonji Church member while visiting his parents’ home to help them farm the land. There was no trace of resentment found in his attitude towards his family for their criminal offences involving kidnap, drugging and handcuffing.

Even though his fiancé was rejected because she is also a member of Shincheonji Church, he seemed to fulfil his role as a son concerned for his family.

It seems that what he desired for his family was recognition of his faith and peace within the family unit. He seemed to have appealed for more than a decade, but the family still seemed to disagree with his faith. MBC reporters concluded the report maintaining that the victim was, in fact, the family. Shincheonji Church members number 300,000 - 750,000 including their families, and the logic presented is that these families all became victims.

Is there any solution to family conflict created by tensions between Shincheonji Church and the established Church?

◆ Religious conflict within the family is a chronic societal issue
However, it should be noted that conflict within the family caused by a conflict of beliefs between religions is not a new phenomenon. For example, conflict created by temple sacrifices during holiday festivals has been treated as a religious issue every year. Moreover, marriage between couples from different religious backgrounds has caused conflict among the extended family unit. It is not untrue to say that the experience of a formerly devout believer now resistant to returning to his former faith serves as a tale of heroism and testimony.

There have always been devoutly religious people who have struggled with other religions.
In this situation, many families have tried to resolve conflict through dialogue, understanding, patience and forgiveness.

But in South Korea, where various religions coexist, it seems that families have been able to avoid inter-religious conflict because the family has played its role very well. In particular, there is a view asserted by religious academics that other religions would have tolerated and cooperated with the Protestant Church with more understanding, which is a notion other religions have rejected. However, what is unique about the conflict between Shincheonji Church and the established Church is that a third party amplifies existing religious conflict. It is pastors and other officials who carry out forced conversion. It is very difficult to argue that these people have resolved family conflict and provided social stability. On the contrary, it is victims' consistent testimonies that proves them to be the catalyst for conflict.
On a video uploaded on YouTube on the 5th by the Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs, a mother confessed that she had taken her son to forced conversion. The mother said that the conversion pastor had instructed her to bring sleeping pills to the conversion programme. And she confirmed that they had secured a studio in Ansan - as was asked - and prepared a month's worth of food.

The mother said that the conversion pastor had instructed her to bring sleeping pills to the conversion programme. And she confirmed that they had secured a studio in Ansan - as was asked - and prepared a month's worth of food.

◆Family relations aggravated by forced intervention
In a recently released accusatory video published by the Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs (Pee-yeon Kang), a mother only listened to the conversion pastor and tried to drag her son to forced conversion. Mrs. Kang said: “A few years ago, a call came through telling me my son had fallen into a cult. The person told me, ‘They are worse than the Communist Party, and if your child falls in there, he won't study or go to school but give them all his money. And he also might have already secretly installed many hidden cameras at home’. He continued, "I'm going to teach you how to bring your child in and prepare a room for consultation." With the intention of saving her son, she obtained a studio in Ansan and prepared a month's worth of food. Mrs. Kang said, “When they treated my son, they treated him like an animal. I did as they told me because they said my son would ruin his life, which sowed very deep concern in my mind. I thought my son wouldn't be a normal person anymore.”
In the accusatory video released on the 5th by the Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs, Ji-hye Choi complains about the problem in media reports regarding forced conversion.

◆Expert: “Family must learn to communicate rationally”
In this regard, Ji-hye Choi, Representative of Pee-yeon Kang, said, “Forced conversion pastors promote heinous cult-framing within the family and society. They carry out interviews focused on publicising and promoting their coercive conversion business. In addition, it glamorises illegal behaviour by emphasising that forced conversion inflicting human rights violations is inevitable for conversion using the media as its mouthpiece. It is an amoral, criminal act that legitimises family violence and homicide."

In this video released by Pee-yeon Kang, expert advice was also provided. The clinical psychologist Min-hee Jung (pseudonym) delivered a warning message, “When I look at counselling tactics of conversion pastors, who are exposed to the press, it is clear that pastors raise parents' anxiety. Raising anxiety feeds parents irrational beliefs, leading them to confine and abuse their child under the justification 'it's for my child sake', and gradually the family will fall into a 'dysfunctional family unit' without guilt or fellowship. Home is a very intimate space that protects one’s survival, but what if one's family members treat the other as deranged or insane? In the worst case, the family will cut ties. Instead of bringing in a third party, who complicates the problem, they must learn to engage in dialogue rationally.”
On the 5th, Pee-yeon Kang introduced a clinical psychologist in an accusatory video released by the Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs advising on a family matter over the telephone.
