As the number of Christians in the traditional church in Korea declines,  the number of congregation members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon 'Shincheonji church') is rising sharply.

From 120 people at its establishment in March 1984, Shincheonji church now has 260,000 congregation members worldwide and will surpass 300,000 by the end of 2019 with an expected figure of 500,000 by the end of 2020. The reason is simple: Shincheonji church is the promised church recorded in the New Testament, specifically within the Book of Revelation.

The nationwide Open Bible series seminar, which was attended by 50,000 people of all faiths and none in the Republic of Korea, was held address the misunderstandings people have about Shincheonji church, teaching the true meaning of life, death and pain through an overview of the Bible and, specifically, the book of Revelation. At the Open Bible Seminar held in Seoul, head lecturer Lee Jungsu of Seodaemun Church, Seoul (Simon Tribe), said, “the secret to the rapid growth of Shincheonji church is that it's the place built according to the promise of the Bible. The name of the kingdom is promised by God; the master of all things (New Heaven and Earth). It is not a place which humans have studied and built."

Indeed, Shincheonji translates into ‘New Heaven New Earth’ (Rv 21), and is also named ‘The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony’ because it has witnessed the reality of the events promised in Revelation. Because God’s promises recorded in Revelation are being fulfilled here, it is no exaggeration to say that God is with Shincheonji church.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon 'Shincheonji church') has been showing rapid growth this year as 100,000 students are expected to graduate from the church’s six-month intensive Zion Mission Center Bible study programme and become members of the church. This will bring the estimated total number to 300,000.

Alongside this explosive growth that will surely signal a wind of change within the Christian and religious world, Shincheonji church has been tirelessly serving local communities throughout the Republic of Korea and abroad. From January-May 2019, 60,000 members of Shincheonji church participated in a huge range of voluntary activities including conservation of the environment, medical aid and support for war veterans. 3000 Shincheonji church members have regularly given blood to address the national blood shortages. Immediate aid was provided at the time of the breakout of the forest fire that ravaged much of mountainous, forested north-eastern province of Gangwon, which is under the care of Philip tribe - one of Shincheonji church's 12 tribes.
Volunteer efforts have extended overseas as church members provided medical aid to 500 orphaned and blind children and residents in isolated towns and villages in Vietnam. The number of beneficiaries both domestically and overseas reached 80,000 this year, includes 10,000 elderly senior citizens, 5000 foreign workers and families and 4000 people with disabilities. Shincheonji church continues to expand its services to people overseas.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’) celebrated the ‘Feast of Tabernacles’ on July 14th at their headquarters in Gwacheon, Republic of Korea.

Shincheonji church, or 'New Heaven New Earth', is the promised church of the New Testament. It is ‘The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony’ (Rv 15:5) which has witnessed all the events promised in Revelation. It has grown from a handful of congregation members at its establishment in March 1984, to over 200,000 today, to an estimated 300,000 by the end of 2019. The reason for its rapid growth is the true word of the Bible it teaches. Bishops and archbishops from many denominations are now coming to study the word in Shincheonji church.

The Feast of Tabernacles is one of several feasts celebrated in Shincheonji church. It originates from the time when the children of Israel came out of Egypt and God established booths or tents for them during their years in the wilderness. The feast was to be kept as a lasting ordinance so that the generations to come would remember that event (Lev 23:33-44). The meaning and significance of the Feast of the Tabernacles in our times today is in commemoration of those who have come out of spiritual Babylon and become the tabernacles (house) where the Holy Spirit dwells and gathers to worship God.

The Feast of Tabernacles on 14th July comprised of a sermon by Chairman Lee, who is the promised pastor of the New Testament. After explaining the significance of this feast in the Old Testament, Chairman Lee said: "We should not think about the significance of this feast in the past, but in the present day. The Bible says that Egypt refers to the flesh. Today, we are giving thanks to God who harvested us from the many denominations of the world and brought us to The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, as promised in Revelation 15.” Indeed, the faithwalk of a congregation member of Shincheonji church is to live a life of faith in accordance with the Bible.

The special feast was celebrated with the 12 tribe leaders and was broadcast live to churches worldwide. Other special feasts celebrated in Shincheonji church are Passover (January 14), the Feast of Ingathering (September 24), and the Founding of the Establishment of Shincheonji (March 14th).

Shincheonji Church celebrated ‘Constitution Day’ in the serene surroundings of Seonam Lake Park on 17th July 2019 in Ulsan. 17th July is a day when the South Korean constitution was proclaimed (1948). The Ulsan branch of Shincheonji Church celebrated the 71st anniversary of Constitution Day by educating citizens on the meaning of ‘Taegukgi’ (Korean national flag).

Taegukgi is comprised of three parts: a white rectangular background, a red and blue Taeguk (flag) in its centre, and four black trigrams on each corner. Citizens were not only informed about Korea’s history but also Taegukgi’s symbolic representations of heaven, earth and water. Many citizens were unaware of this fact.

One parent said, "We must tell this fact not only to us but also to our students. With what we have learned, we will inform our children. Thank you." An official of Shincheonji Church, Ulsan branch, said, "I am glad to see that Ulsan citizens understand the fact they did not know Taegeukgi when they heard the explanation, and I am thankful that they appreciated it."

In my former article entitled “The Christian Council of Korea (CCK) 'not representative of Christianity in Korea'” (link below), I provided brief insight into the corrupt and immoral practices of the CCK and their rapid decline in membership. Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereafter 'Shincheonji Church'), which is forecast to secure a congregation of 300,000 by the end of 2019, has published an article supporting the argument that the CCK is no longer representative of Korean Christianity and has no grounds to label other churches a ‘cult’ when it itself forces Christians to believe their doctrine (link below).

Although the president of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), Jeon Gwang-Hoon, has been causing controversy with his insistence that the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is representative of Protestant Christianity in Korea, figures show that the CCK represents a mere 3% (349,471) of the total number of Protestant Christians in Korea (11,132,750). The Christian Ethics Movement of Korea (CEMK), which promotes ethical living appropriate to the Gospel, supported the findings of the report 'Religious Status of Korea in 2018' published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which found that out of a total 374 Protestant denominations in Korea, only 67 belong to the CCK (18%). CEMK explained: "79 denominations have registered on the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) website. Of these, 10 denominations have already been placed on administrative hold. The denominations which requested administrative hold are no longer cooperating with the CCK. Thus, in fact, it points to renunciation of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK).” CEMK added that the Assemblies of God of Korea and Korea Baptist Convention have also ceased their activities with the CCK.

The CCK has no future.

The Korean newspaper, Geumgang Daily, has published an article forecasting the huge growth of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’). The number of congregation members of Shincheonji church is expected to exceed 300,000 worldwide by the end of this year.

Such a forecast is based on its current rapid growth in the first half of this year. Although Shincheonji church has grown on average by 20,000-30,000 year-on-year, 30,458 people (27,711 in Korea, 6847 overseas) have already completed the six-month Bible study programme run at its Zion Mission Center and joined the church. This represents a five-fold increase on the same period in 2018 (14,834 - 9683 in Korea, 5151 overseas). Although the number of students enrolled to commence study was 8488 at the end of June 2018 (7175 in Korea, 1313 overseas), the current figure as of the end of June 2019 is 150,641 (141,177 in Korea, 14,578 overseas). This represents an increase of a staggering 1800%.

Shincheonji church aims to have a graduation of 100,000 Zion Mission Center students for 2019. This growth is not only indicative of ‘quantity’. Shincheonji church ensures that its members possess a solid mastery of the Bible. Therefore, in order to become a congregation member of Shincheonji church, one must complete a six-month Bible study programme at one of its 300 Zion Mission Centers worldwide and then complete a 300-question exam, scoring a minimum 90%. This is entering through the ‘narrow door’.

To meet growing demand, online lectures have been made available since May 2019, as well as small-group seminars. To date, 15,589 students have registered for study.

What is the reason for this rapid growth and what will the outcome be? As one member of Shincheonji church said: "Shincheonji church is capable of such explosive growth because of its Bible-centred teachings. If all students complete the six-month Bible study programme this year, a huge wind of change will be felt throughout the Christian world globally.”

On 9th June, Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG), Gumi city, conveyed its appreciation to blood donors at an awards-giving ceremony. SVG signed an MOU both with Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center and the Korean Red Cross to commit to giving blood to those most in need twice a year.

The aunt of an 18-year-old man whose life was recently saved due to generous blood donations made by SVG members said: "This blood donation saved my nephew's life." She thanked all SVG volunteers who had made a total of 100 blood donations.

Mr. Dae-suk Kim, director of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center, said: "The rate of blood-giving for members of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, including the middle-aged and elderly, is much higher than that of any other organization."

Mr. Geun-ji Shin, a donor from SVG, said: "If you look around, you'll see many locals in need of assistance. I will take the lead in devoting my undivided heart in service to the local community through SVG's various campaigns, in the same way that the light, rain and air is freely provided to us."

Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG) and the Daejeon-Chungcheong Alliance co-hosted the 'Love for All Nations and Sharing of Peace' on June 6th 2019 at Daedong's Yuseong Hot Spring Park Duryum Hall to celebrate their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) peace agreement.

This is the sixth successive year that SVG has organised such an event. This particular event underlined the importance of reconciliation and unification in what has been a tragic history between the Koreas. The celebration featured a photographic exhibition of the Korean War, a detailed exhibition of this bloody conflict and a lecture on the tragic reality of life in that era, drawing in local residents of Daejeon city and Chungcheong province. The hope for peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula was promoted through face-painting, pinwheel making and calligraphy activities, as well as various cultural performances.

One citizen who participated in the event with his family said: "A few days ago, leaders at the Hanoi Summit gathered on national television to discuss ways forward for peace. I think that reunification and peace on the Korean peninsula is right in front of our eyes. I want to pass on a bright and peaceful future to my children rather than a history of brutal conflict."

SVG also signed MOUs for peace with Korean War Veterans Association and several culture-promoting organisations.

An SVG representative said: "We've been holding 'Love for All Nations and Sharing of Peace' celebrations annually, but every time we hold it, we feel a new and ever-rising wind of peace. We look forward to a day of peace."

Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Daejeon branch continues to act as the light and salt of the community with its many various initiatives including, and not limited to, 'Door2Door Healthcare' and 'Wall-Painting Stories With Hope' programmes for the improvement of others' wellbeing.

Mrs. Song, who was recently diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, is one of hundreds of believers who are yearly forced to receive 'coercive conversion' in the Republic of Korea. ‘Coercive conversion’ is a vile programme created and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) to convert believers of minority belief systems to the CCK's Presbyterian teachings. Pastors evade legal punishment by deceiving family members into believing their loved one has joined a cult, inciting them to drag their own loved one for 'conversion education'. This had led to two deaths in recent years with pastors getting away scot-free.

Back in July 2018 in Gwangju city, Mrs. Song had joined Shincheonji church (full name: Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony); a growing church with a congregation of 30,000 believers which the CCK considers a threat to their religious authority. Shortly after, her husband read false rumours online about Shincheonji church and was deceived by coercive conversion pastors into believing that she had joined a cult and needed to undergo conversion education. In April 2019, with the incitement of coercive conversion pastors, he physically abused her, biting her and dragging her from room to room at their family home where she was driven out and left penniless on the streets, separated from her three children. Fortunately, she was able to secure police protection and returned home where her husband, parents and siblings reassured her of their respect for her beliefs. However, they soon began to challenge her beliefs and, on 9th June, she was dragged away to the fifth floor of an established church where she underwent coercive conversion education for a period of nine days.

Immediately, coercive conversion pastors forced her to read lies and watch false reports about Shincheonji church online in an attempt to entice her to consent to receiving conversion education. She refused and demanded that these so-called religious pastors explain the meaning of the Bible - especially Revelation - to her (which Shincheonji church could do). They couldn’t and grabbed her by her hair and trousers, dragged her from room to room and said that Shincheonji church was responsible for her marital breakdown. She went on hunger strike. After a postman read a note that she had slipped under the door, he informed police authorities who stormed into the church building on 18th June. Her health had deteriorated significantly and was taken immediately to hospital for treatment in Cheonan. She had lost 7kg.

Her doctor deplored the pastors’ actions, saying:
"I don't have any religious affiliation. However, I once did volunteer work with Shincheonji Volunteer Group and they were so bright and kind. Freedom of religion is something that must be respected by all people. No one has the right to interfere with this."

On June 27th, Cheonji Daily visited the church in question to request an interview with the pastor and related personnel, but the church responded by saying that the pastor was absent. Mrs. Song remains in hospital, worried whether her family will plot something else. In South Korea today, there are hundreds of people whose human rights have been violated behind the guise of religion.

On 6th June 2019, Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG) served 1000 visitors to Daejeon National Cemetery providing refreshments in 30°C temperatures. Daejeon National Cemetery is South Korea's second national cemetery (after Seoul National Cemetery) reserved for Korean veterans, which include those who died in the Korean Indepedence Movement, Korean War and Vietnam War.

This is the seventh consecutive year that SVG has served in this way and one of dozens of initiatives that SVG has been carrying out. It is the largest NGO operating in the Republic of Korea with 200,000 volunteers serving in disaster relief, blood donation, Korean War veteran support, and regional development and public service campaigns in the majority of cities in South Korea. SVG has received near to 100 awards by governmental, civic and private organisations in Korea and continues to devote its efforts to the betterment of others.

There are numerous charitable organisations or movements of people around the world who work selflessly, but what drives volunteers of SVG is hope. The love that its volunteers show is not only based on an innate desire to want to help others, but on a certain hope of a future without mourning, death, crying or pain, as promised in the Bible (Rv 21:4). Because of this hope, we serve with 'sincere' love💛

According to a recent article published by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’), roughly 50,000 people, of all faiths and none, came to listen to the church’s Biblical teachings through its Open Bible Seminar series hosted in major cities throughout South Korea. This figure is massive and underlines peoples’ yearnings for answers to spiritual matters.

Participants’ testimonies speak for themselves. Mr In-sik Kim from Daejeon said: “No religion has ever explained to me the secret of life and death in such a logical way”, adding, “it was so simple, clear and explicit. And it was done in a relaxed and joyful environment where I discovered the true meaning of life, death and pain.”
Out of all participants who attended the seminar, roughly 30,000 (60%) registered for further study at the Zion Mission Center of Shincheonji church, the Bible-teaching institute which provides a free six-month Bible study programme at one of its 300 centres worldwide. This is not a small figure. An average of 20,000-30,000 students complete this six-month programme course year-on-year. The number of registrants for the period January-May 2019 is five-times greater than that of last year. In fact, an estimated 100,000 people will complete the Zion Mission Center Bible study this year and join Shincheonji church.

The reason why the Zion Mission Centers are becoming so popular is because people are yearning for ‘truth’ in an aggressively secular and material age. Moreover, the traditional church, is unable to provide answers to life’s biggest questions. The Open Bible Seminar was able to address some of these questions through the topic ‘Life and Death: The Secret of Life, Aging, Sickness and Death’. Explanations about Revelation, the final book of the Bible which records God’s promise for a world free of mourning death, crying or pain, could be clearly given.

This is why I learned the teachings of the Bible at the Zion Mission Center. A clear explanation could be given for the cause of my pain in life - whether emotional, physical or psychological - along with a clear explanation of God’s plan to put a permanent end to all mourning, death, crying or pain, as promised in Revelation. People are flocking in thousands to listen to this word; not only in South Korea, but throughout the world. This is truly hopeful.

The book of Revelation is God's final work. It is a book of promise recorded by Apostle John according to a vision Jesus showed him 2000 years ago. Within it, Jesus promises that there will be 'one who overcomes' or 'one who is victorious' (Rv 3:12, 21). Who is this person?

In order to 'overcome', this person must find themselves in a difficult situation that requires them to fight against and defeat someone. This person is Jesus' promised messenger (Rv 22:16) who, becaause of overcoming, receives the 12 promised blessings recorded in Revelation 2-3. These blessings are of imense value; one of them being that God and Jesus, who are in spirit, will work with him (Rv 3:21).

Because he overcomes, Jesus' promised messenger establishes the promised temple recorded in Revelation 15:5, that is named 'The Temple of the Covenant Law', or 'The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony'. Jesus is the head of this promised temple and it is named as such because the 'one who overcomes' has witnessed the events of Revelation and can give testimony about it (Rv 22:8). Its full name is 'Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony'. It is abbreviated as 'Shincheonji church'. It is also 'New Heaven New Earth' where God promises to return to His creation to end all mourning, death, crying and pain (Rv 21:3-4).

What are the promised 12 blessings given to the one who overcomes?

Following recent commotion caused by the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) - whose chairman, Reverend Jeon Kwang-hoon, has been calling for impeachment of President Jae-In Moon - the Protestant church has refuted its claims that it is representative of the Protestant Christian population in the Republic of Korea. According to an official report published by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism entitled ‘Religious status of Korea in 2018', believers of the CCK number 349,000 (3%) out of 11,217,500 Korean Christian Protestants.

The report has also published the following figures: -
- out of 98,305 Protestant pastors and evangelists, 2850 (3%) belong to the CCK
- out of 83,883 churches, 17,855 (21%) belong to the CCK
- out of 374 Protestant orders, 67 (18%) belong to the CCK

Moreover, the CCK continues to implement its murderous ‘coercive conversion’ programme, which has claimed the lives of two women in the last ten years and has forcibly confined hundreds of believers in remote locations throughout Korea, subjecting them to emotional and psychological abuse until they sign their consent to receiving Presbyterian doctrine. This is the disturbing reality of the CCK today.

The Assemblies of God of Korea church, a major protestant denomination, has since withheld its support from the CCK, and postponed all its duties including pastoral ones. The Evangelical Baptist Church of Korea has virtually ceased all operations. What these figures prove is that the CCK - which had a membership of 12 million at its peak - has lost its authoirty and representation.
