A growing number of news agencies are publicising the rapid growth of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’) in South Korea, following the success of its nationwide ‘The Book of Revelation: Open Bible Seminar’ which drew in a staggering 50,000 participants, May-June 2019.

The purpose of this nationwide series of seminars was to inform the public about the correct understanding of the Bible and address misunderstandings about Shincheonji church. The majority of the 50,000 participants registered for further study at one of Shincheonji church’s 300 Zion Christian Mission Centers worldwide, which teaches a six-month Bible study programme for free. Although 2018 experienced 20,000 people hungry for true understanding of the Bible, this figure already stands at 30,000 for 2019. Moreover, according to Shincheonji church’s ‘May 2019 Zion Mission Center Registration Report’, a record 150,000 people have already registered to begin studying this year.
Gyeongbuk Daemin Daily and Dekyung Ilbo (links below) reported on the impact of the seminars held simultaneously in Daegu and Pohang in April, contributing to a 60% increase in registration of the Zion Mission Centers from an average monthly intake of 500-800 students. Moreover, the impact of the seminars held in many cities in the region has contributed to a significant growth in Youngnam with 2300 students completing the six-month Bible study programme this year and 6500 registered to begin study this year. This is truly remarkable in a region which has a Christian population of only 10%. Local pastors have even cited it as a ‘modern-day revival of the New Acts’.

To meet this growing demand, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has doubled the number of its Zion Mission Center branches and resource capabilities nationwide.

Since Adam betrayed God 6000 years ago, God has been working to restore all creation back to Him by putting an end to sin, as evidenced in the Bible. However, man, who has been born of Adam’s seed since that time, has been unable to solve this problem of sin. Sin found its way through every generation since Adam, including Noah, Abraham, Moses and the twelve tribes of Israel who betrayed God by worshipping false gods under King Solomon (1Kings 11).

Man was unable to remain faithful to God. This is why God had to choose someone born of His (spiritual) seed who was conceived through the Spirit - not flesh - in order to achieve His purpose. God promised to do a ‘new thing’ and sow His seed through the prophet Jeremiah (Jer 31). 600 years later, God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, born of God's seed (Mt 1).
If we think physically, the purpose of farming is to harvest a crop from that seed sown in the spring months. It is the same spiritually. Jesus not only fulfilled prophecy, but also sowed God's seed (Mt 13) and promised to return to harvest its fruit (Mt 13:30). Today, 2000 years later, the fruit of this seed sown are being harvested and brought into God's promised church - Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (abbreviated as 'Shincheonji church'). These people become the reality of the promised 12 tribes sealed with a perfect understanding of God's word (Rv 7, 14). This is the place where God's 6000-year toil will come to an end and God will finally return to dwell with all creation: a life of peace, without sin or death. It is truly hopeful.

2019 has experienced a record number of people registering for Bible education worldwide at the Zion Christian Mission Centers of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (here on ’Shincheonji church’). Roughly 30,000 students have now completed, or are still studying, the intensive six-month Bible study programme with a record 150,000 people awaiting registration for Bible study this year worldwide. In fact, registration for the period January-May 2019 represented a 300% increase on the same period in 2018. This is in stark contrast to the decreasing membership of the established church in the Republic of Korea.

The Zion Christian Mission Center is Shincheonji church’s Bible-teaching institute which freely teaches the Bible in 300 locations worldwide. Upon completion of a six-month intensive Bible study programme, a 300-question exam is taken to consolidate one’s understanding of the Bible. One then joins Shincheonji church.

The reasons for such explosive interest are numerous. Firstly, many religious and secular media agencies both in South Korea and abroad have exposed the lies of the established church - particularly the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) and its mouthpiece, Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) - made against Shincheonji church. This has allayed the unfounded suspicions of people who want to understand the Bible. This helped draw in a staggering 50,000 people into Shincheonji church’s nationwide 'Open Bible Seminar'; most of whom registered for further study at the six-month Zion Christian Mission Center programme.

What is interesting to note is that, although the majority of current believers in Shincheonji church were previously Christian, many of today’s students - particularly within South Korea - are either of different or of no faith. One prior atheist, Mr. Kim Jung-hoon (35), who attended the Open Bible Seminar, said, "I joined the Zion Christian Mission Center after taking part in the seminar hosted by Shincheonji church where I heard clear Biblically-based teachings about religion for the first time. I’ve recommended it to others around me.”

The exponential growth of the first half of 2019 is forecast to lead to a steeper curve in the second half. To meet growing demand, online lectures have been made available since May 2019, as well as small-group seminars which have drawn the attention of many Christians. In the words of a congregation member of Shincheonji church: "The Zion Christian Mission Centers have produced between 20,000 and 30,000 students per year, but the current trend is expected to reach 100,000 this year. This is possible because Shincheonji church has been focusing on creating 'Bible-centred believers’ for the last thirty years." Indeed, Shincheonji church teaches only from the Bible - the word of God - without any of man's commentaries.

Roughly 50,000 people attended an Open Bible Seminar hosted by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’), from May-June 2019 in the Republic of Korea. In a climate of false news published about Shincheonji church, the purpose of these seminars was not only to teach the correct understanding of the Bible but to resolve peoples’ misunderstandings about Shincheonji church. The series of seminars - held throughout the country - explored Biblical themes including its 6000-year history, the identities of the tree of life and tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the signs of the second coming, the new covenant required for believers to keep today, the book of Revelation and answers to 24 questions posed about life by the former president of Samsung, Mr. Lee Byung-chul.

Groundless accusations have been made against Shincheonji church by the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), which has thrown the religious world into confusion through its dissemination of false news. While it labels Shincheonji church a ‘cult’, the CCK uses the media in Korea to disguise its own evil intentions. It is not a religious, but criminal, organisation which is responsible for the deaths of two women who refused to convert and accept their Presbyterian teachings through a ‘coercive conversion’ programme (see previous articles for more information). Pastors affiliated to the CCK in Korea have been sentenced for roughly 12,000 crimes including fraud, burglary, forgery, defamation, drink-driving, arson and sexual assault from 2008-2018. Within the last four years alone, close to 550 pastors in Seoul have been sentenced. This is the disturbing reality of mainstream Christianity in Korea today. In contrast, not a single accusation made against Shincheonji church by the CCK has been upheld by a court of law. In fact, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Shincheonji church after CCK broadcast a false documentary entitled “Those who fell into Shincheonji”.
In spite of the CCK’s slander, Shincheonji church has sent invitations to the CCK to hold a public debate on the Bible to address the public’s misunderstandings about Shincheonji church and its teachings. Negotiations between the Christian Council of Cheonan and Shincheonji church’s Cheonan branch began, but quickly broke down as the intentions of the former was to use external commentaries to disprove the teachings of the latter while the latter uses the Bible alone to teach the truth of the Bible.

The fact that 50,000 people - of all faiths and none - came to listen to the word taught at Shincheonji church’s Open Bible Seminar shows peoples’ hunger for ‘truth’ in an era of increasing secularisation. The majority of participants registered for further study at one of Shincheonji church’s 300 Zion Christian Mission Centers, which provides free Bible-teaching. Zion Christian Mission Centers are being established all over the world for anyone hungry to understand the Bible in-depth.

Tens of thousands of people have been flocking to listen to the teachings of the Bible at Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon 'Shincheonji church'). Shincheonji church's Bible-teaching department, Zion Christian Mission Center, registered a record 20,000 students across hundreds of its global Mission Centers in 2018. Why are so many people going there?

The causes of this phenomenon are a hunger for spiritual truth in an age of unprecedented secularism and material prosperity, combined with a sharp decline in church attendance - particularly in South Korea. People have become increasingly disillusioned with the established church in Korea as 12,000 sentences have been given to pastors affiliated to the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) for crimes including burglary, drink-driving and rape since 2008. It is a shocking reality.

What distinguishes Zion Christian Mission Center from any other Bible-teaching institution is that it seeks to create 'Bible-centred' believers through an intensive six-month programme. This includes a 300-question exam that seals students' understanding of the Bible. Teachings are fully Bible-based and emphasis is made on caring for students' spiritual wellbeing and in providing transparency of the Mission Centers' monthly financial reports.

Moreover, to help spread the truth about Bible teachings and to resolve any misunderstandings about Shincheonji church made by the established church, Shincheonji church recently held a nationwide Open Bible Seminar series that was attended by a staggering 50,000 people of all faiths and none, in South Korea. These seminars freely taught the true meaning of Genesis and Revelation and the new covenant that believers are expected to keep today according to the Bible. Shincheonji church is providing people the opportunity to verify the correct teachings of the Bible for themselves and even offering to send its lecturers to the established church in Korea to help congregation members verify the truths for themselves.

Tens of thousands are expected to graduate from the Zion Christian Mission Centers this year all over the world.

Shincheonji church continuees to put its love of God and neighbour into action through its 200,000-strong Shincheonji Volunteer Group, which freely serves the needs of people throughout Korea.

Revelation is a book of promise and the last of the 66 books of the Bible. Everything written from the time of Adam (Genesis) to Noah, Abraham, Moses and the 12 tribes of Israel, the prophets (Isaiah-Malachi) and Jesus’ first coming have all been fulfilled. For the last 2000 years, the only book that remains to be fulfilled is Revelation.

After Jesus ascended to heaven, he returned to show future events to Apostle John in a vision. Apostle John recorded everything shown to him in Revelation. This promise has been sealed for the last 2000 years but has finally been ‘revealed’ in our time today. In the same way that one could understand the meaning of the Old Testament promise only by listening to the words spoken by God's promised pastor 2000 years ago - Jesus Christ - the only way one can understand the meaning of the New Testament promise is by listening to the words spoken by Jesus' promised pastor who is making known everything he has seen and heard in Revelation to the churches (Rv 22:8,16). He is giving a plain explanation of Revelation's promise at the place Jesus promised in Rv 15:5; Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. This is the only place in the world which can give the correct testimony of Revelation's fulfilment. Everything is being fulfilled according to Jesus' promise today.

Nearly all religious scriptures - including the world’s major religions - teach about the importance of living a life centred on love of God and neighbour. Such teachings formed the foundation of Jesus Christ’s ministry 2000 years ago, as is recorded in Mt 5-7. However, treating another as one wishes to be treated is actually basic human etiquette taught in school and the home. So what is the measure for one’s standard of faith?

According to Christian scripture (the Bible), God, who had to leave His creation after Adam sinned 6000 years ago (Gen 6:3), has been working to return to man through promises made with His chosen pastor in each era; from Noah to Abraham, Moses and Jesus Christ. However, whenever these chosen pastors proclaimed God’s promise, only a few people believed in the promise and God was unable to fulfil what He wanted. Even when Jesus Christ came, only 12 disciples believed that he came according to God’s promise recorded in the Old Testament. The outcome for humanity has been devastating: an increase in sin and a continuation of death for all people since Adam’s betrayal.

However, Jesus made a promise about future events that would take place, as recorded in the four Gospels and the book of Revelation. He did this so that we would believe when they are fulfilled (Jn 14:29). This final promise is being fulfilled today and, as in previous eras, is being made known through one promised messenger, who, in our times, has seen and heard all the promised events of Revelation to make it known to the churches in the world, as Jesus’ promised messenger (Rv 22:8, 16). It’s only by believing in Jesus’ promised messenger, who is at Shincheonji Church of Jesus, that God will finally be able to return to His creation to wipe away every tear from our eyes and give us life (Rv 21:4).

I invite all readers to listen to the testimony from Jesus’ promised messenger!

Roughly 50,000 people of all faiths and none attended the nationwide Open Bible Seminar series hosted by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of The Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’) from April-May 2019. Although the series came to an end, a further three-day Open Bible Seminar was held at Shincheonji church's Daejeon branch (Matthias tribe) from May 31st-June 2nd 2019.

The nationwide Open Bible Seminar sought to teach the true meaning of the Bible for people with seeking hearts and to resolve any misunderstanding about Shincheonji church. The main content of the lectures taught at the Open Bible Seminar series includes the new covenant, God’s 6000-year history recorded in the Bible, the identity of the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that appeared in Genesis, the signs of the end of the age, and the true meaning of the book of Revelation. 24 questions posed about life by the late Lee Byung-chul, the former CEO of Samsung, have also been lectured on.

The most recent three-day seminar means that over 20,000 residents in Daejeon have now attended the seminars that first began in Daejeon in November 2018. The entire church was used to run this three-day seminar under the theme 'God's Letter' with lectures delivered on the existence of God, the purpose of one’s faith and understanding oneself in the context of faith. Lectures were accompanied by various musical performances put on by Shincheonji church members.

One local guest at the seminar, who came with his whole family, said, "It was great to experience such high-quality performances of art and music put on by the youth in Daejeon. Shincheonji church’s Daejeon branch is proper and it has given me the opportunity to change my thinking."

A representative of the Daejeon branch of Shincheonji church said, "I am grateful to see so many citizens having visited the church in these last three days. Shincheonji church’s Daejeon branch will continue to serve the local community and lead the way to creating a beautiful and advanced heavenly culture."

As crowds of residents continue to flock to Shincheonji church’s Open Bible Seminar series, Shincheonji church continues to successfully open its doors to educate the public about the correct understanding of the Bible and resolve misunderstandings.

Some readers will know my story about how I found hope and purpose. For those who don’t, I would like to briefly share with you.

I reached a point in my life years ago, which some psychologists might diagnose as a ‘quarter-life crisis’. Although I achieved some measure of ‘success’ by the world’s standards, it was fleeting and I felt scarred by a deep, pervasive emptiness. Coupled with knowledge of bleak headlines and global media coverage of the world’s many wars and conflicts, I despaired of life itself. Where could I find hope?

For whatever reason, I inherently believed that only the Creator could help me find my purpose and fill my empty heart with a measure of hope. For the first time in my life, I picked up the Bible and began to read it avidly; early morning, away from colleagues on my lunchbreak and before bedtime. But I didn’t understand it. I went to local church leaders and asked them to help me understand it. Despite their best intentions, no one could give me a clear answer. ‘Just have faith and believe’ is what I was commonly advised. Seeking answers, I went to church services in many denominations and served in whatever way I could. I attended many Christian and secular conferences and courses, and ended up paying thousands of pounds. Nothing seemed to nourish my broken spirit. I had reached the nadir of my life. Then one evening, I cried out to God and pleaded with Him to show Himself to me, either through an understanding of the Bible or through vision.

I write this article today, several years later, with the certain knowledge that God is real and answered my prayer that night. Soon after, I met someone who had a sound understanding of the Bible. He explained the Bible to me in a clear and logical way, answering the many questions I had about it. I was stunned that everything I was being taught was explained through the Bible itself. No external interpretations or commentaries; just the Bible. My spiritual eyes were being gradually opened.

I was then given the free opportunity to dig deeper into the word of God. I took it and began a six-month Bible study course. l gained a thorough understanding of God’s 6000-year history recorded in the Bible, was shown the true meaning of the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in Genesis, and also learned about the new covenant that believers must keep today, recorded in the four Gospels and book of Revelation. More than anything, that course provided me with a clear understanding of God’s will for my life and His redemptive plan for humanity in our deeply broken world. I also came to understand that God is a God of promise; whatever He promises, He fulfils at an appointed time in the future.

Although I still have hurdles to overcome daily in my faith, I give all thanks to God that I now have a definite hope and purpose in Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon 'Shincheonji church'). Shincheonji church is with God because it is the church Jesus promised in the book of Revelation 2000 years ago. Unlike any other church in the world, the head of this church is Jesus, not man. Jesus is the one who promised Revelation and he is the one who fulfils it, revealing the true meaning of Revelation that has been sealed for the last 2000 years (see the below link). The name ‘Shincheonji’ appears according to the Bible (‘New Heaven New Earth’ in Rv 21). It is also called ‘Tabernacle of the Testimony' according to the Bible (Rv 15:5) because it has seen and heard all the promised events in Revelation and can, therefore, give testimony about it. The people in Shincheonji church are all on the same journey, practising our walk of faith as best as we can and with sincere love and respect for one another. Many people who are hungry for answers to life’s problems are also studying the word and flocking to this promised church all over the world. For this, I will be forever grateful. Thank you, God. Thank you, Jesus.

I know that God is a living, not distant, God who fulfils everything He promises. In Rv 21:3-4, it is written that a world without mourning, death, crying or pain will be created on the earth. This is God’s hope and my greatest hope.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rv 21:3-4)

The Bible is a 6000-year record of God’s promises. The promise God made to Abraham (Gen 15) was fulfilled through Moses (Ex 12) and the promise God made through the Old Testament prophets (Isaiah-Malachi) was fulfilled by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago (Jn 19:30). After Jesus bore the cross for the salvation of humanity, he ascended to heaven and came, in spirit, to Apostle John on the island of Patmos, where he promised about future events that must take place. This final promise was recorded by Apostle John in the New Testament book of Revelation. Who, what, where, when, why and how is this promise in Revelation fulfilled?

What Apostle John recorded in this vision Jesus showed him was future events. They were not the reality/fulfilment themselves; just the promise. God always reveals what He intends to do in advance (Amos 3:7), so that we can believe in its fulfilment when it comes (Jn 14:29). When Revelation is fulfilled, there must be one who comes in the position of Apostle John to fulfil this promise.

The reason Jesus called this final promise ‘Revelation’ is to ‘reveal’ Jesus’ final promise. For the last 2000 years, no one has been able to understand the meaning of Revelation because it was sealed. However, in Revelation 5, the ‘Lamb’ (Jesus Christ) takes the sealed scroll from God’s right hand and begins to open its seals one-by-one in Revelation 6. This means that the promise that has been hidden for 2000 years can finally be opened at the time of Revelation’s fulfilment. The reason God has to record Revelation in hidden language is to hide it from his enemy so that believers are no longer deceived by false teachings.

In Revelation 2 and 3, twelve promised blessings are given to the one who comes in the position of Apostle John. One of these blessings is that God, Jesus and the angels in heaven will work through this person. He is Jesus’ promised messenger who has seen and heard all the promised events of Revelation and is making them known to the churches (Rv 22:8,16). This promised messenger is now making the reality of Revelation known to the world.
