📰The Bible is one of the best-selling and most widely distributed books in history, yet it is also considered to be among the least understood. The Bible, which is referred to as the New Covenant and Promise of God, in which 'the way to heaven and salvation' is presented, differs in theologians' interpretations that make it difficult to understand. These differing interpretations have been the cause of the rise of denominations with each one establishing their own doctrine. With the increase in online church services and gatherings resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been growing interest in the comparison of various church doctrine. This paper, therefore, attempts to provide readers with the opportunity to compare differing Biblical teachings without interpretation. Among a host of online sermons and Bible-based teachings, the contrasting doctrine between the established Church and Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which has drawn public interest throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, is hereby compared and summarised. Best efforts have been made to provide a summary of Shincheonji Church of Jesus' understanding of the Bible. Judgment as to what is right or wrong is left to the reader’s discernment.
In Hosea 2:19-20 of the Old Testament, God told the prophet Hosea that He would betroth him in marriage. In addition, God said through Isaiah in Isaiah 62:2-4 that Israel would be named 'Hephzibah' - that is, 'my delight is in her' - and 'Desolate', which means 'married'. This is an analogy for the marriage of the bride for the woman who marries Israel, who is the bridegroom and the spirit of God.
All this was spoken by God in parables through prophets such as Hosea and Isaiah (Hos. 12:10). At the first coming, Jesus Christ fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament. That is why it is written that, in Matthew 3:16-17, God's Spirit came upon Jesus to God's delight and, in John 10:30, why Jesus said that he and the Father were one. Jesus also said that the Father was in him and that the words he spoke were not his words, but the words of his Father who had sent him (John 14:24).
God, who is spirit, came in the position of the bridegroom giving the seed of the word, and Jesus, who came to this earth in the flesh, came in the position of the bride who received this seed. This is the same as the groom giving his seed to the bride. The seed that God gave was the word of Luke 8:11, the spiritual seed of the word of God. God, who is the word, was likened to the bridegroom, and Jesus, the promised shepherd (pastor) who received the seed of the word of revelation, was likened to the bride.
When speaking of God in the position of a bridegroom, we come across the account of people as brides. Jeremiah 31:31–32 says that even though God became husband to the Israelites, they broke God's covenant. God spoke of the Israelites as if they were the bride and God, as a spirit, their husband and bridegroom. At the time of the first coming, in Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came upon many in Mark's upper room. It can be seen that the chosen people who belonged to Jesus, whom God was with, were the bride and Jesus was the groom with the Holy Spirit.
In summary, at the first coming, the bridegroom was God, and Jesus and his followers, who received the seed of the revealed word from God, were the bride.
Who are the Holy Spirit and the Bride in Revelation 22:17 at the time of the Lord's Second Coming? The book of Revelation is a prophecy to be fulfilled in the future. Within it is Jesus' messenger who is sent for the churches in Revelation 22:16.
In 2 Corinthians 11:2, Apostle Paul said that he was a matchmaker to present the believers as pure virgins to Christ as their husband. It is clear to see that the bridegroom he speaks of is Jesus, who is the Holy Spirit.
On the other hand, there is also a marriage banquet in Babylon, the nation of Satan and the home of demons in Revelation 18. This is a marriage feast in which members of the congregation who received Satan's word of untruth (lies) from the bridegroom Satan, are united. They are ultimately judged and enter eternal hellfire.
Today, in Revelation 10, the promised shepherd who received the seed of the word of revelation from Jesus, is delivering the water of life freely according to the promise of the Bible.
"The Holy Spirit and the Bride means a person who came to this earth and drank the water from Jesus. The Holy Spirit and the Bride are people who drank the living water from Jesus and stored spring water in their stomach."
Pastor B of the Korean Full Gospel Church
"What is the Spirit and the Bride? Isn't the church a bride? Those who believe in Jesus are the brides. It's the same as the Holy Spirit and the Bride preaching the Gospel now. The Holy Spirit has come and is preaching the Gospel through the church."
We are all brides under God's throne.
