The Yangsan Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group distributed cold water to citizens during the heatwave while also conducting a campaign to honour the sacrifice and dedication of Korean War veterans.
On 13th August, seven volunteers gathered at the plaza in front of the main entrance of Yangsan Underground Station to distribute cold water and cooling sheets to help citizens stay safe from heat-related illness.
The branch also presented Taegeukgi (national flag) keyrings to citizens who wrote messages of thanks to Korean War veterans. Around 40 people took part in the campaign, expressing their appreciation for those who sacrificed and served their country.
Jae-bong Lee, manager of the Yangsan Branch, said, “We wanted to provide citizens with refreshing cold water while also giving them an opportunity to remember the veterans who sacrificed for our country. We will continue this campaign to ensure that the veterans’ noble dedication is remembered and honoured.”
