Iksan Branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group Receives Volunteer of the Month Award and Iksan Mayor's Award
The Iksan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group received the volunteer of the month award and a commendation from the mayor of Iksan at the '2023 Volunteer Brand Declaration Ceremony and One Mind Competition' hosted by Iksan City Council and Iksan City Volunteer Centre.
The event, held at the WM Hall of Wonkwang Health Science University, was attended by Iksan Mayor Hun-yul Jung, Iksan City Council Chairman Jong-oh Choi, Wonkwang University President Seong-tae Park, volunteer group leaders, and about 300 volunteers from Iksan City.
The Volunteer of the Month (July) award was given to the Iksan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, and is an award that selects organisations with excellent performance and activities for the month.
Many farms suffered great damage due to record-breaking heavy rain last July and were in desperate need of help. After hearing this news, the Iksan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group visited farms in Iksan City and helped with the work of restoration. As a result, they received an award in recognition of their contribution.
Jae-seong Jeong, head of the Iksan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, said, “We're proud to receive this honourable award.” “Receiving this award makes me reflect on whether we have faithfully fulfilled our role as a volunteer organisation this year,” he said. “Our contribution is lacking, but thanks to this award, we will participate in more volunteer activities next year to support the local community.”
An official from the Iksan branch said, “Every member began volunteering with the desire to contribute to the local community. With this award, I feel proud as I look back on the year.” “We will not forget this feeling and will do our best to become an Iksan branch that participates more diligently in future volunteer activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Iksan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group is continuing to carry out volunteer activities such as pink cloth wrapping, blood donation campaigns, 'More the Better' emotional wellbeing service, 'Green Nature' environmental service, local economy revival, rice cake distribution service and a flood recovery service.
