Donggang Dunchi and Seobu Market have been made much cleaner thanks to voluntary environmental cleanup by citizens.

On the 12th October, the Jecheon Branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group (Director Jun-ho Jeong) carried out the 'Green Nature' environmental purification activity at Donggang Dunchi and Seobu Market in Hasong village, Yeongwol town, Yeongwol district, Gangwon province.

The Green Nature environmental clean-up activity is a carbon-neutral environmental campaign to preserve the global nature cleanly and pass it on to future generations as a legacy. About 120 volunteers from the Jecheon branch participated in this service.

Since this location is visited by many domestic tourists and is also frequently used by the citizens of Yeongwol while taking a walk, Donggang Dunchi was chosen to provide a pleasant environment.

Volunteers worked hard to clean up the environment by holding signs saying 'No smoking, smoke-free please' and 'Let's save the planet' as the autumn-coloured Donggang area is a smoking area.

As a result, Donggang Riverside, which had been suffering from cigarette butts and various household waste, became noticeably cleaner thanks to this volunteer activity.

In addition, in Seobu market, the city council communicated with citizens and actively promoted the importance of carbon neutrality, such as proper separation of emissions and green living practices.

A citizen who watched the volunteer work said, “I'm happy that Donggang Dunchi has become brighter, and the volunteer work also looks good,” and “I think it would be nice to work with this volunteer group.”

An official from the Jecheon branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group said, “We'll do our best to create a beautiful society through environmental clean-up activities,” and added, “We wish to become a volunteer group whose service will remain in the minds of citizens, not just a one-time volunteer service.”
