Shincheonji Cheongju Church holds celebration of filial piety with local seniors
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) regularly opens its doors to the public to provide sound teaching through Bible-based lectures on a range of topics, especially the Book of Revelation, address existing misunderstandings and prejudices about Shincheonji among the Christian community, and foster deeper ties with communities throughout South Korea.
On the 8th May, Shincheonji Cheongju Church (head lecturer Mu-gyeom Je) of Matthias Tribe hosted a meal for filial piety in celebration of Parents' Day. 250 servings of samgyetang (chicken soup) were given to local residents, including senior citizens and traders from Yeongdong shopping district.
On that day, a pre-event performance opened the festivities, followed by a carnation presentation ceremony, lunch, and presentations by docents. The elderly, wearing carnation chest badges, enjoyed the exciting performance and shared in the joy of eating Samgyetang together.
An elderly woman in her 70s who attended the event said, “Thanks to Shincheonji Cheongju Church, I could enjoy an abundant Parents' Day. Thank you very much for the invitation today and this joyful gift.”
In his commemorative address, head lecturer Mu-gyeom Je said, “Parents' Day is a meaningful day that honours our seniors and allows reflection on the meaning of filial piety. As believers who are filial to our physical parents and our spiritual Creator, God the Father, we, Shincheonji Cheongju Church, will continue to show compassion to the local community.”
