“What is Light and Darkness in the Bible?” Lecture by Shincheonji Bartholomew Tribe (Shincheonji Seminar Series: 'Testimony on the Parables of the Secrets of Heaven and Their True Meanings', Lesson 8)

[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Hyeji Lim] Shincheonji Church of Jesus, whose Online Revelation Seminar was met with great acclaim in 2021, continues to educate the public through their teaching of the parables of the Bible, via YouTube broadcasting, in 2022.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Chairman Man-hee Lee) has been conducting their seminar series 'Testimony on the Parables of the Secrets of Heaven and Their True Meanings' via their official YouTube channel since the beginning of the year. On the 31st January, a prominent lecturer from Bartholomew Tribe delivered a lecture on the theme 'The Figurative Light and Lampstand, the Blind, Deaf, and Clothes', lesson 8 of 23, within the elementary course taught by the Zion Christian Mission Center.
Lecturer Su-hyun Yoo said, “Light is the word of life, and the lampstand is the spirit and evangelist. Being blind and deaf means not having an understanding of the Word. Clothes and robes refer to one's heart, one's words and one's actions. Robes specifically represent one's correct acts.”
Instructor Yoo said, “Let's understand from the Bible why this is so."
“In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, it is written that destruction will suddenly occur at the time of the Second Coming of the Lord. The 'them' group are those in darkness while the 'you' group are those born of the light who receive salvation. When it is day, the light shines brightly, and what was in darkness can be revealed, and the right path can be discerned. Moreover, light gives life to all things.”
He continued, “If you read John 1:1-5, it says, 'In the beginning was the Word, in him was life and that life was the light of all mankind.' So the word of life becomes spiritual light, life for one's spirit. On the other hand, a state of spiritual darkness is one in which there is no word of life, so this can be understood as the ignorance of not having the word.”
In addition, “When thinking of the Biblical day and night, Jesus came as a light to the world at the first coming.” He continued, “If you read Isaiah 29, it says that the revelation from God, that is, the prophecy of the Old Testament, was sealed. At that time, it was spiritual night when the word was sealed in parables and no one could understand its meaning.”
Regarding the parable of the blind and the deaf, Lecturer Yoo said, “If you go to the book of Revelation, which records the events of the Lord’s second coming, in Rev 3:17-18 Jesus says to the angel (messenger) of the church in Laodicea, 'You are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.' This angel did not know that he was naked. If you interpret this literally, it is not possible that he would not be aware of his own physical blindness. You can see that this refers to spiritual blindness.”
He continued, “The word of revelation, the revealed word, is light, and it is preached through the promised Shepherd who has come as the true light. That is why the day and the night can be distinguished. It is no different today than it was at the time of the first coming.” He said, “To the children of darkness, Jesus comes like a thief in the night to their destruction, but to the children of the light he cannot come like a thief in the night. Let us be those who belong to the day and become children of the light who welcome the Lord.”
From 6th January - 28th March 2022, Shincheonji Church of Jesus will deliver the seminar series 'Testimony on the Parables of the Secrets of Heaven and Their True Meanings' a total of 24 times, twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays at 10am. This seminar series, led by instructors from the Zion Christian Mission Center, will be broadcast in 24 languages via the official Shincheonji YouTube channel (https://bit.ly/en2021revs).
Meanwhile, from October 2021 Shincheonji Church of Jesus delivered 24 lectures of their seminar series on the Book of Revelation. It was broadcast in 24 languages in 138 countries, recording more than 7 million views and culminating in great success. Since then, MOUs have been signed with 1200 pastors and seminaries for further Bible education.
