Shincheonji Church of Jesus, which delivered heart-warming news to local communities through a large-scale blood donation, is continuing to practice love and compassion towards its neighbours.
Shincheonji Daejeon Church (Matthias Tribe) of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, launched the ‘Greetings with Love’ campaign on the 6th September ahead of ‘World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th)’.
'World Suicide Prevention Day' was enacted on September 10th 2003 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) with many countries to prevent and prepare measures to prevent suicide and share joint efforts and expertise. This Day is meant to raise awareness of the seriousness of suicide, which is increasing within South Korea and abroad, and to come up with measures to solve it together.
In particular, South Korea's suicide rate is known to be the highest among the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, making the risk particularly high. Meanwhile, Shincheonji Daejeon Church carried out the 'Greetings with Love' campaign event to awaken the importance of the value of life and put love for life into practice.
This campaign delivered postcards and rice cakes containing messages of hope written by Shincheonji members in Pentas flower pots, whose floral language means 'giving joy', to senior citizens living alone in the Yongmun and Tanbang neighbourhoods.
The head lecturer of Shincheonji Daejeon Church said, “Thanks to Jesus, everyone has gained life through Jesus. We are God’s children and family, and it is God’s heart and will to save life.”
He continued, “We decided to carry out this activity because we wanted to deliver even a small message of hope in this harsh world,” and added, “We are especially pleased to be able to give the joy of nurturing life to the elderly who live alone.”
Meanwhile, Shincheonji Daejeon Church has been holding the 'Yongmun-Tanbang neighbourhood End-of-Year Filial Piety Celebration' for local senior residents since 2015 and is building rapport with local residents through group blood donations and various social contribution activities.
