'Zion Christian Mission Centre's Class 115 Graduation Commemoration' Military Performance Reenacted Throughout Gwangju
A clear message to religious people to cease conflict and unite to end wars and achieve peace was conveyed by artists from the Gwangju Church of Shincheonji Church of Jesus on the 17th.
This reenactment performance was one of the celebratory performances that had been given at the 'Class 115 Graduation Ceremony of the Zion Christian Mission Center' for 111,628 graduates held on the 30th of last month.
The group performance was centred on the theme of “Make Peace Blossom” and was held in various spots in Gwangju. The artists who participated in the performance painted their entire bodies in the form of soldiers, religious figures, and graduates, and struck various poses at various landmarks. The citizens in attendance burst into applause at every moment when the group changed from pointing guns and swords at each other with expressionless faces to holding flowers and smiling brightly.
Also, a newsboy carrying a newspaper reporting the news of the graduation ceremony where 111,628 people graduated, heightened the atmosphere with exciting rhythm.
A citizen passing by said, “I thought they were actual statues, but when I looked closely, I was surprised to see that they were young men dressed up as statues.” The passerby added, “It seems like if we can respect each other regardless of religion, we won’t have to fight. I wish we could live in peace like this performance.”
An official from the Shincheonji Gwangju Church said, “We wanted to convey the emotions and message of that day to the citizens in a profound way. We will continue to plan various events where we can communicate with the citizens.”
