Head Pastor Changes Church Signage to 'Shincheonji Church of Jesus' for Wellbeing of Christian Gen Zs in Seoul, Korea
As the younger generation is increasingly leaving the church in South Korea, some church leaders are finding ways to address the spiritual thirst of the youth.
Pastor Choi, who is serving at a church in Seodaemun, Seoul, has a strong desire to target the 'Spiritual Gen Z' (those born from 1996 onwards and currently in their 20s). The 'Spiritual Gen Z' is a digital generation that values religious life and seeks to harmonise church and social values. Their tendency is to access religious materials through digital media and prefer offline worship services.
After learning about the high number of youth at the Seodaemun Church of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Pastor Choi continued to meet with officials of the Shincheonji Seodaemun Church and decided to hold a 'sign replacement agreement signing ceremony and unveiling ceremony' on the 27th of this month.
Pastor Choi said, “As Gen Z Christians come to the realisation through Shincheonji Church of Jesus that we are now living in the era of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation, I will fulfil my duty to awaken and develop the spirituality of the Gen Z by fully understanding the Book of Revelation.”
