Presbyterian Pastor With 40 Years of Ministry Changes Church Name to 'Shincheonji Church of Jesus'
A wave of signboard replacement is blowing in the Presbyterian Church in South Korea.
On the 21st November, Pastor Kim, who has been active in pastoring at a Presbyterian church in Seoul for over 40 years, changed the signboard to Shincheonji Church of Jesus at a 'Signboard Replacement Agreement and Signboard Unveiling Ceremony' held at the church he serves.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between Shincheonji Seongnam Church and the church led by Pastor Kim serves to clearly establish the basic direction and will of cooperation between the two parties. It specifically promises to cooperate in providing biblical materials from Shincheonji Church of Jesus, supporting education for evangelism and church growth, and dispatching Shincheonji lecturers.
Explaining the main reason behind his decision to sign an MOU and change church signage, Pastor Kim said, “I felt that the education coming from the Zion Christian Mission Centre (the educational institution of Shincheonji Church of Jesus) was very logical,” and he is hopeful that he can see the Korean Church unite in a climate of increasing division.
The head lecturer of Shincheonji Seongnam Church said, “If there is a church that asks for help in the future, we will actively cooperate.”
The number of signboard replacements in the Seongnam region is expected to grow in the future, as Shincheonji Seongnam Church has now established an MOU with 17 established denominations.
The MOU and signboard change phenomenon is not limited to Korea. In fact, the total number of pastors and churches worldwide that have signed MOUs with Shincheonji Church of Jesus and are conducting their ministries based on the prophecies and fulfilled realities of the New Testament (Book of Revelation) is rapidly increasing. As of the end of September, 747 churches in Korea and 13,127 churches in 84 countries overseas have signed MOUs with Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Moreover, 1671 churches in 43 countries have joined Shincheonji Church of Jesus and changed their signs. Most pastors and churches cite the 'excellence of the word' from Shincheonji Church of Jesus as the primary reason for the signboard change.
