Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Pyeongtaek branch holds special lecture for Korean War veterans in Patriots & Veterans Month
“I participated in the Korean War for the future of the country. A lot of blood has been shed (for this day). I would be grateful if you would not forget this and keep it in your memory for a long time.”
These are the words of Jong-bong Kim, a Korean War veteran and president of the Pyeongtaek branch of the Korean War Veterans' Association, who gave a lecture at an invitational event held at Shincheonji Pyeongtaek Church, Gyeonggi Province, on the 20th June.
The event was held as part of the ‘Love Your Country, Share Peace’ campaign of Shincheonji Volunteer Group in celebration of Patriots and Veterans Month.
On that day, about 100 people, including volunteers from the Pyeongtaek branch and veterans, attended.
President Kim, who was 19 when he joined the special forces in the Korean War, gave a vivid testimony saying, “I still can’t forget the moment when my comrade, who had been begging me to save him, came back dead...It is the tragic fate of a nation in which the blood of many nations was shed. This should never happen again.”
A Pyeongtaek branch official said, “I hope we never forget the sacrifice of these people as we think about how precious the peace and freedom we enjoy in this era are.”
Meanwhile, the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' campaign has been held nationwide yearly by Shincheonji Volunteer Group since 2015 to commemorate the souls of war veterans who died for the sake of peace of Korea and to promote a world of peace without conflict.
