[Shincheonji 100,000 Graduation Ceremony] Shincheonji’s Great Revival, ‘I Couldn’t Keep My Eyes Away’
Shincheonji celebrated its first global '100,000 Graduation Ceremony' for 103,764 graduates in 2019 in Ilsan, South Korea. Despite the limitations imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shincheonji later held its second global graduation ceremony (106,186 graduates) in 2022 in Daegu. This year, Shincheonji held its third global 100,000 graduation ceremony for 108,084 graduates, again in Daegu. Shincheonji is now ‘setting a trend in the global religious community.’
On that day, the helicopter carrying Chairman ManHee Lee of Shincheonji took to the skies, and 100,000 people, who had arrived at the stadium from all over the country in approximately 2300 buses that had set off before dawn, gathered inside and outside the stadium in eager anticipation.
Led by Chairman ManHee Lee, the heads of the 12 tribes and 24 departments of Shincheonji, which is an organisation created on earth according to the organisation in heaven, entered together.
This graduation marked the completion of a six-month Bible study course at the Zion Christian Mission Centre, the Bible education institution of Shincheonji. To be eligible for graduation, one must attain a minimum 90% pass mark. Therefore, all graduates have demonstrated a mastery of the whole Bible, including the prophecies and fulfilment of the Book of Revelation.
In his address, ManHee Lee, Chairman of Shincheonji, said:-
“It's a very great thing that today, after so many years, God’s promise is being fulfilled on the earth. What did God say He would accomplish? The Book of Revelation that God promised. The Book of Revelation has 22 chapters, but if you count the number of pages, it's only about 13. Within Revelation, the details of the new era are recorded. God and the kingdom of heaven, which left the earth 6000 years ago, will come back today. It means that God and heaven will come to this earth and become one. Korea will become the greatest nation on earth... I believe that a very holy and great work under God’s rule will be fulfilled.”
Among those graduating this time, there were 6274 current and former pastors and seminarians. Among them was pastor-turned-graduate, Hyeon-mo Jeong, who had taken both the six-month Zion Mission Center course of Shincheonji and a doctoral course at the Graduate School of Theology at the same time to objectively confirm the teachings based on the Bible.
Pastor Jeong said to the crowds in the stadium:-
“Following my belief that I would not follow this path unless it is the right one, I simultaneously took the Bible study course at the Zion Christian Mission Centre and the doctoral course at the Graduate School of Theology. Everyone, the level of the Word is truly the difference between heaven and earth. Because theological schools focus on the Old Testament, it has become natural for people to interpret the words of prophecy arbitrarily and create their own commentaries rather than seek the meaning and fulfilment of God's will recorded in the Bible. Shincheonji testifies without adding or subtracting not only the true meaning of the Book of Revelation, which no one in the world knew, but also the reality of what was fulfilled as prophesied. Currently, 399 churches and seminaries in South Korea, including graduate schools, and 9194 churches in 79 countries have signed an MOU to have the revealed word of Shincheonji taught to church congregations and believers alike. This covers a staggering 950,000 members, all of whom are learning or teaching the revealed word of Shincheonji. Also, 1365 churches in 37 countries have changed their signage to 'Shincheonji Church of Jesus' and are becoming one with Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Isn’t this proof that Shincheonji has overcome the world with the truth?”
Graduate Dam-hee Seo said:-
“After coming here and listening to the Bible study, I realised how much more important spiritual matters of the heart are to material things, and that even if you have a negative perception of Shincheonji, you can just come and study for 6 months. You will definitely find the truth here. That is what I wish to clearly express.”
Gwang-hoon Jeong, Chairman of the Korea Popular Arts Association, said:-
“I feel like I've come to a different world today. I've really felt how great God’s power is today. As a performer, I've performed at many large-scale events, but when I came here and saw it, I was truly moved. I feel that this organisation of Shincheonji is incredible.”
Last year, the Shincheonji graduation ceremony, which was highly regarded for its excellent organisational skills in terms of safety and order, was again 'second to none' this year. Full safety measures were taken for accident prevention, such as maintaining order at the event site, deploying safety management personnel and emergency medical teams. A total of 14,000 people, including medical, guidance, and transportation staff, were deployed and the event was completed without a hitch.
With a spirit of volunteerism, the warm hands of volunteers mustering the cold weather shone brightly.
Medical volunteer Seon-sun Je said:-
“I'm so grateful to the people who have come with smiles despite the cold weather, and I'm happy and grateful that those who have come in feeling under the weather find strength after we treat them or give them rest. I'm happy to be donning on this medical vest and volunteering at such a big event. This memory will last a lifetime.”
Youth volunteer Gyeongmin Lee said:-
“I graduated from Class 104, and I’m now attending Class 114 Graduation Ceremony, so there are so many more people today than back then and the scale is unimaginable, so I’m really growing as I go. It’s such a blessing and I’m touched. The weather was sunny and clear today and the white clouds all gathered at the stadium. Therefore, I can only approach this with a grateful heart, thinking that all of heaven is here and that God and the angels are here with us.”
Seong-gwang Kim of Golden Time (emergency rescue company) said:-
“Because there are so many people, we are delegating vehicles to each department for safety reasons. I've been to PSY concerts and the like, but there were too many people there and they were chaotic. Here it's different - beautiful and calm. There are a lot of guides, and I think we'll finish the day well if we keep order.”
A local citizen in Daegu said:-
“The magnitude of today's event is something else. I've had many thoughts about how everyone could come together like this and have a church community do something like this. In fact, it's difficult for the Korean military to do this with such meticulousness. I feel like there is a lot of order in place.”
Another Daegu citizen said:-
“I watched last year's graduation ceremony on TV for a while, and I was surprised to hear that it would be held again this year. It seems like there is a unique and true doctrine here, and many believers seem to be united in it. It seems like a lot of people are gathering. From what I can see, I think it will only grow more.”
The excitement was great, with many believers who could not enter the packed Daegu Stadium watching the large screens stationed around the area. Rather than feeling disappointed about not being able to attend the event in person, even the current members at Shincheonji were surprised by Shincheonji's astonishing growth.
Shincheonji member Dong-suk Jeong said:-
“It’s been 21 years since I came to Shincheonji, and we've held a graduation ceremony every year, but as the days go by, I feel and see with my own eyes that God’s work is truly being fulfilled. I often feel that this work of God will soon be fulfilled in its entirety on earth. As a resident of Daegu, it was great grace given by God last year and this year that we were able to witness it in person. It's amazing that so many believers and graduates have gathered in one place for this day. Seeing them gathered here really makes me feel like God’s kingdom is here on this earth.”
The high-quality performances expressing the beauty of heaven announced to all people that the world of Shincheonji, the greatest news for mankind, has come.
Dong-an Ko, General Secretary of the General Assembly of Shincheonji, said:-
“The reason more than 100,000 believers gather at Shincheonji every year is because it contains the greatest truth in 6000 years of history... All people are gathering in Shincheonji in search of the word of truth because the revealed word, the greatest truth in history, is coming through the promised pastor, the Chairman.”
Graduate Seonghyeon Kim said:-
“After learning the Word, I realised that this is truly a place where God and heaven are, and that this is a place that testifies to the reality of the fulfilment of the Book of Revelation.” Regarding his study experience, he said, “The Zion Mission Centre course was so much fun and I was very moved. There were many times when I cried and there were many times when I felt the love of God and Jesus. When I saw over 100,000 people gathered in one place and acting as one, I thought that heaven was really not far away and that this world could change.”
German graduate Lennart Duninger said:-
“Through the Bible verses I learned at Shincheonji, I was able to truly feel that God is with Shincheonji. While learning the Word, I was amazed every time I learned how perfect and logical it was. I learned that God will definitely fulfil what he prophesied through the Bible. This gave me the opportunity to believe in God, Shincheonji, and the Promised Pastor. I would like to encourage you to listen to Shincheonji’s testimony on the Book of Revelation. These words contain great hope for humanity. I myself do not wish to get sick or die. Through the words of Shincheonji, I learned that there is eternal life and that there will be no more pain or death. Above all, this is happening in the times we are living in now. I am witnessing many young people in Berlin become more and more interested in the Bible and in Shincheonji. That's why, in the future, I plan to spread the word to more young people and encourage them to come to Shincheonji.”
For the history of Shincheonji, which started with one pastor, to grow to this extent, there were countless stories of effort and the work of the Holy Spirit.
Chairman Lee of Shincheonji said that the miracles of the three 100,000 graduation ceremonies were possible because the spirits of heaven were with Shincheonji, saying, “The reason we were able to achieve 100,000 graduates despite severe persecution is because Jesus and the angels are working together to fulfil the work of harvest.”
What's even more surprising is that 80,000 people are currently taking the Zion Mission Centre course, so an even larger graduation ceremony is being planned for next year.
