On the 8th August, a day before the end of the summer, the Hangang-ro 3-ga Senior Centre in Yongsan District, Seoul was filled with cheerful laughter and warm hospitality. More than 10 members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan Branch personally prepared and served 50 seniors samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup).
Volunteers meticulously prepared individual chicken pieces for those with limited hand function, as well as providing soybean paste, salt, and bone bowls. The volunteers stayed with the seniors until they finished their meal, sharing their stories and bonding with them. The elderly asked them to "please continue to visit us."
Choi Seong-seon, deputy director of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan branch, said, “The greatest reward is seeing the seniors enjoying their meals,” and added, “We will continue to provide services that the seniors at the senior center truly need.”
Meanwhile, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Namsan branch has been visiting senior centres regularly for three years since 2022 to donate goods and share side dishes, and this year marks the fourth year of serving samgyetang.
