The Pocheon branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group is carrying out flood recovery efforts in the livestock farms of Naechon-myeon, Pocheon

On July 20th 2025, the city of Pocheon in the Republic of Korea recorded a record-breaking downpour of 104 mm in a single hour, a deluge that meteorologists estimated occurs once every 200 years.

In response, the Pocheon branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group stepped up to quickly restore damage in Naechon village, Pocheon City, which suffered significant damage from heavy rain, including flooded vehicles, landslides, and the isolation of residents.

Volunteers rolled up their sleeves, helping to clear flooded homes, remove debris, and deliver relief supplies to evacuees.

A resident who suffered flood damage said, “Damage occurs every year, but this year, the landslides were particularly severe, making it very difficult,” and “Recovery was out of the question, but the volunteers’ arrival was a huge help.”

A Pocheon branch official said, “Natural disasters can be especially devastating because they are beyond our control, but once we overcome them, better things will surely come,” adding, “I hope the residents will not lose courage.”
