On the 8th August, the Gunsan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group explained the prevention of heat-related illnesses to the seniors at the Wonnapo Senior Centre in Napo-myeon
“I’ve been feeling suffocated in this heat, but today’s laughter and conversation really refreshed me. It’s been a long while since our village felt this lively.”

On the 8th August, the Gunsan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group conducted a tailored health service for the elderly, centred on vascular age check and heat-related illness prevention education, at the Wonnapo Senior Centre in Napo-myeon, Gunsan City, Republic of Korea. A participant and grandmother, Ms. Jeong Bok-rye (82), expressed the above.

Volunteers conducted vascular age measurements on around 20 seniors to help participants better understand their cardiovascular health, followed by an educational session on how to prevent heat-related illnesses.

To encourage hydration, the team donated two boxes of bottled water and advised seniors on the importance of drinking plenty of fluids during hot weather.

More than just a health check, the event was an opportunity to connect. Volunteers shared ice cream and watermelon with attendees, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere in the usually quiet village.

According to a branch representative, the visit was prepared with the hope of caring for seniors vulnerable to heat and giving them a moment of rest and joy.
