Amid a prolonged economic recession in Korea, numerous branches of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group have actively launched campaigns to revitalise the local economy by supporting small business owners and the self-employed.

In Geoje, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group held a 'Traditional Market Shopping' campaign at Okpo Traditional Market on the 19th March.

On that day, 35 volunteers went around various stalls in the Okpo Traditional Market area to shop, engage with traders, and distributed promotional material to help revitalise the market.

Local merchants and citizens expressed appreciation for the effort.

A market trader running a fruit store said, “There aren’t many customers at Okpo Market, so I'm really grateful that you came to revitalise the market.”

Myung-jin Kim (63, male), a resident of Okpo-dong, Geoje, stated, “It seems the market is becoming more lively because there are customers.”

Meanwhile, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group, across its branches nationwide, hopes that these traditional market campaigns will continue to draw interest from the general public.
