Shincheonji John Tribe Invites Over 300 Citizens for Talk Show Lecture

In 2025, the Shincheonji Church of Jesus John Tribe expanded its engagement with local communities through a combination of faith dialogue, social contribution, and public outreach. Rather than limiting its activities to internal religious practice, the John Tribe focused on strengthening its role as an open religious community interacting with pastors, residents, and socially vulnerable groups.
This drive has pushed forward in 2026, and on 21st March, the Shincheonji John Tribe held a public event called 'Open Festa' at Shincheonji Suwon Church and engaged in two-way dialogue with citizens.
The event was organised to create an opportunity for open communication with residents, allowing the 300+ visitors to learn directly about the church and ask questions in person.
Talk Show Format Focused on Questions About the Bible and Faith
The main seminar was conducted in a talk show format, led by Chang-ho Seong, head of the John Tribe.
Instead of a traditional lecture, the session was based on questions from attendees, allowing participants to discuss topics related to the Bible, faith, and the purpose of the church in a conversational atmosphere.
At the beginning of the session, Seong emphasised the importance of hearing information directly and verifying it through open dialogue.
He explained that the church exists as a place to study the Bible and that the Bible provides guidance for human life and direction.
Lee also stated that understanding God’s will through the Bible and living according to that will is central to faith.

Opportunity for Further Dialogue and Consultation
After the seminar concluded, attendees continued conversations with organisers and church representatives.
A consultation area was prepared where participants could ask additional questions and exchange views in a more informal setting.
One family that attended the event said the experience was meaningful because they were able to directly ask questions they had previously wondered about.
Participant Mi-ran Hong (47, female), who attended the event also commented that the open format of the Q&A helped resolve her curiosities:
“Many questions I had always wanted to verify were asked, and many of my curiosities were resolved. I was particularly impressed by the honest disclosure regarding the church’s financial management.”
Continued Regional Activities of the John Tribe
The John Tribe is active primarily in Gwacheon, with ten other locations domestically.
Along with educational events, the tribe continues to engage with local communities through volunteer service and social contribution activities.
Organisers stated that events such as the “Talk Show” are intended to provide opportunities for open discussion and for individuals to explore questions about faith and the Bible.
The church also stated that it plans to continue organising activities that allow for ongoing communication and engagement with the community.
