From the 14th to the 21st May, Shincheonji Volunteer Group Songha Branch carried out its ‘Wall Story’ project on the mural of an apartment block in Oseong, Hwasun County, South Jeolla Province.

'Wall Story', in its 11th year, is one of the three major projects of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, and is a mural painting volunteer activity conducted by 73 branches throughout South Korea. It is an urban regeneration project that restores dilapidated murals through drawings and paintings, depicting characteristics specific to local regions and the stories of local residents. The themes and pictures designed on the murals are decorated at the request of the beneficiaries.

Residents who watched the volunteers painting murals thanked the volunteers for their hard work and offered cool drinks and snacks to the volunteers.

A young volunteer who participated in the mural painting activity said, “I was able to work comfortably and pleasantly because all the residents treated me kindly. I'm very proud to see the older generation satisfied.”

The resident who requested the mural also planted flowers in a mini garden made from waste tyres and said, “Thank you for drawing such a wonderful picture on the old wall. The flowers complement the mural and the apartment has become very bright.”

An official from the Songha Branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group said, “We will continue to make ourselves available in places where there is a need and happily serve, and we will also work to improve the local environment.”
