On the 22nd May, the Suwon Branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group carried out the environmental clean-up volunteer activity ‘Green Nature’ at Maehyanggyo bridge pier by Suwon Stream.

Maehyanggyo is home to an ‘Under the Bridge Gallery’ where the works of Suwon citizens can be viewed. Flyers attached to the frames displaying the works were disorganised, and the pile up of messy spider webs and bird droppings discoloured the environment.

Do-yeon Na, president of the Suwon Stream *Taegeukgi Rose of Sharon Volunteer Group, cheered on the volunteers, saying, “Usually, when you volunteer under a bridge, you only clean up the dust, but it takes a lot of hard work to clean it thoroughly.”

An official from the Suwon branch said, “The Suwon branch is regularly carrying out environmental purification activities in the Suwon Stream area. We will carry out purification activities in a variety of ways and strive to provide citizens with a clean view of the surrounding area.”

Meanwhile, the 'Green Nature' programme strives to pass on a beautiful environment as a legacy to posterity through wetland conservation activities, environmental clean-ups to protect major facilities and cultural assets, environmental recovery, environmental protection public interest campaigns, and the creation of flower paths in illegal waste dumping areas. This is a regular volunteer activity conducted by Shincheonji Volunteer Group throughout South Korea.
