Why 50,000 citizens listened to Bible teachings at Shincheonji Church’s ‘Open Bible Seminar’

According to a recent article published by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’), roughly 50,000 people, of all faiths and none, came to listen to the church’s Biblical teachings through its Open Bible Seminar series hosted in major cities throughout South Korea. This figure is massive and underlines peoples’ yearnings for answers to spiritual matters.

Participants’ testimonies speak for themselves. Mr In-sik Kim from Daejeon said: “No religion has ever explained to me the secret of life and death in such a logical way”, adding, “it was so simple, clear and explicit. And it was done in a relaxed and joyful environment where I discovered the true meaning of life, death and pain.”
Out of all participants who attended the seminar, roughly 30,000 (60%) registered for further study at the Zion Mission Center of Shincheonji church, the Bible-teaching institute which provides a free six-month Bible study programme at one of its 300 centres worldwide. This is not a small figure. An average of 20,000-30,000 students complete this six-month programme course year-on-year. The number of registrants for the period January-May 2019 is five-times greater than that of last year. In fact, an estimated 100,000 people will complete the Zion Mission Center Bible study this year and join Shincheonji church.

The reason why the Zion Mission Centers are becoming so popular is because people are yearning for ‘truth’ in an aggressively secular and material age. Moreover, the traditional church, is unable to provide answers to life’s biggest questions. The Open Bible Seminar was able to address some of these questions through the topic ‘Life and Death: The Secret of Life, Aging, Sickness and Death’. Explanations about Revelation, the final book of the Bible which records God’s promise for a world free of mourning death, crying or pain, could be clearly given.

This is why I learned the teachings of the Bible at the Zion Mission Center. A clear explanation could be given for the cause of my pain in life - whether emotional, physical or psychological - along with a clear explanation of God’s plan to put a permanent end to all mourning, death, crying or pain, as promised in Revelation. People are flocking in thousands to listen to this word; not only in South Korea, but throughout the world. This is truly hopeful.
