A volunteer from the Daegu branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group introduces its activities to seniors at the Donghaeng Disability Day Center on the 19th August.
“The warm meal and hands-on experience brought me peace of mind.

One senior who participated in a customised summer experience programme, hosted by the Daegu branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group (hereafter 'the Daegu Branch') at the Daegu Donghaeng Disability Day Center on the 19th August, said this. This visit by the Daegu Branch was purposed to help seniors, who were often confined indoors due to the 35C heatwave, enjoy a healthy summer indoor experience.

Volunteers from the Daegu branch opened the experience by carrying out a "health clap" and "laughter exercise", followed by a galbitang (Korean beef short rib soup) sharing activity that was then served to the seniors.

Director Moo-yeon Kim of the Donghaeng Disability Day Centre said, This experience provided an opportunity for our clients, most of whom are elderly and may not comfortably enjoy outdoor activities, get active and create memories.”

Through initiatives like this, Shincheonji Church demonstrates its ongoing dedication to caring for its community - not only spiritually, but also physically.
