On 5th September 2021, Cheonji Ilbo (Cheonji Daily) published an article, in Korean, entitled, "(24 Wise Questions - 9) 'Why is Religion Necessary for Humanity?'” This is a translation of that report.

📰Korea JoongAng Daily published an article on December 17, 2011, which listed a series of questions posed by the late founder of the Samsung Group, Byung-chul Lee, one month before his death in 1987. Byung-chul Lee posed 24 questions on matters of religion and faith in writing to his acquaintance, who was a Catholic priest. 33 years had passed until these questions were published, and today the answers are finally being proclaimed to the public by Chairman Manhee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. Now people throughout the world can finally find the truth they have been seeking. This paper seeks to answer the 24 wise questions posed by the late Byung-chul Lee.

(24 Wise Questions - 9) “Why is Religion Necessary for Humanity?”

(Chairman Manhee Lee) "Religion is education on the matters of heaven. It resolves the problem of sin, which is necessary for attaining salvation and heaven."

"The term 'jonggyo' is also a word used to refer to religion in the West. What does 'jonggyo' mean? It means “the highest teaching”. Because it teaches people about the things seen in heaven, it is teaching that comes from God. The meaning of the word ‘religion’ is teaching that reconnects the lifeline that has been cut off. It is teachings based not on the knowledge of the world, but on the knowledge of heaven.

Why is this teaching necessary for humanity?

Whether or not a child behaves in accordance with their parent's expectation, what kind of parent would not wish for their child to receive a good education? The Creator is the Father of all creation, and all creation are His.

What heaven wants to make known is not the things of this world, but the things of heaven and of God. The Bible contains content such as history, teachings, prophecy and fulfilment. Religion can teach us these things, particularly with regards to prophecy and fulfilment, and the process of creation, that is, creating on the earth what has been seen and fulfilled in heaven.

The reason why people need this teaching is because this is the teaching of heaven that can educate people, who are captive to sin, to come out from a state of sin (devil) and return to God (passing over from death to life) in order to receive salvation and live together with God in the kingdom of heaven."
