Shincheonji Volunteer Group at work in the lead-up to Korean Chuseok holidays, Gwangju city
Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG) continues to make national headlines for their outreach efforts throughout the Republic of Korea. SVG belongs to Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of The Testimony (hereafter 'Shincheonji church') and has 200,000 volunteers in 72 branches worldwide serving communities through a range of projects, campaigns and initiatives focused on environmental conservation, blood donation, provision of medical aid, war veterans' support, elderly care and public service. In the first half of 2019, 60,000 volunteers catered to the needs of 80,000 people.
The most recent publication of SVG's volunteer efforts has appeared in the news agency Cheonji Ilbo, which reported on 10th September that SVG's Gwangju branch had conducted their 'Chuseok rehabilitation initative' on the 8th September in Ochi 1 and 2 neighbourhoods, Gwangju city, Jeonnam province, in the lead-up to Chuseok. (Literally meaning "Autumn eve", Chuseok is a major harvest festival and a three-day Korean Thanksgiving Day celebrated annually in both North and South Korea.)
More than 50 SVG Gwangju members gathered their heart to collect discarded rubbish from alleys, roads, highways and parks in the aftermath of 'Typhoon Lingling', which has left thirteen people injured and three dead in South Korea. In Gwangju, trees had collapsed and facilities were damaged in the wake of this typhoon.

I thank you for your support and help." Mr. Ji-seop Ji, head of SVG Gwangju, said, “We hope that this environmental clean-up will help provide a pleasant and clean area for families long after Chuseok.”
