Interest in Shincheonji church’s anticipated 'graduation of light' at the end of this year has been growing within the secular press in Korea. Shincheonji church (full name ‘Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony’) was founded in March 1984 with a handful of believers. Within the last five years, 20,000-30,000 people per year have completed Shincheonji church's intensive six-month Zion Mission Center Bible study programme; the church's Bible-teaching institute located in over 300 branches worldwide. This year's growth of 100,000 is unprecedented by any church or religious institution's standards.

The secret to the rapid growth of Shincheonji church is its 'pure Bible-centred' teaching. The church is also working actively for peace, both towards the reunification of the Korean peninsula and on a global scale. The chairman of Shincheonji church, who is Jesus’ promised messenger who witnessed all the prophecies in Revelation (Rv 22:8, 16), is also the chairman of HWPL - a global peace NGO which is working for world peace and holds a world peace summit yearly that draws in thousands of global religious, political and academic leaders for this pursuit of peace. (The 2019 HWPL World Peace Summit was held just four days ago at Suwon World Cup Stadium).

In spite of continual opposition and slander by the established church in Korea and allied Christian press, the secular press in Korea continues to promote the growth of Shincheonji church. The Christian Council of Korea (CCK) - which was founded on the murderous, unbiblical teachings of John Calvin who slaughtered men, women and children who opposed his doctrine on predestination  -uses the Christian media (notably Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) as its mouthpiece to slander Shincheonji church. The CCK has established and implemented a heinous 'coercive conversion' programme that led to the deaths of two believers in 2008 and 2018 and subsequently received widespread criticism from the United Nations in New York last year. Moreover, following CBS’ broadcast of their slanderous documentary 'People who fell into Shincheonji' in 2017, the Supreme Court ruled in Shincheonji church’s favour. Readers may be shocked to learn that, from 2008-2018, pastors affiliated to the CCK have received 12,000 sentences for crimes including drink-driving, burglary, sexual assault and murder. This is the corrupt reality of mainstream Christianity in Korea today.

Regardless of such opposition, Shincheonji church continues to shine the light by teaching the true word of the Bible and putting their Biblical beliefs into practice and is growing accordingly. The world will see a great graduation of light in the upcoming months.
