As far back as c.600BC, God promised through His prophet Jeremiah to sow two types of seed (Jer 31:27). At his first coming 2000 years ago, Jesus fulfilled God's promise by sowing good seed (wheat) in his field (church), as recorded in Matthew 13. The seed is the word (Lk 8:11). However, the devil also sowed his seed (lies) in the same field. Jesus said that both the wheat and weeds must grow together until the promised time of the harvest or the 'end of the age' (Mt 13:39), commonly referred to Biblically as 'today' or 'that day'. For the last 2000 years, two types of believers have grown as the church has been corrupted by man's teachings and traditions. Jesus promised that, at the time of harvest, the wheat would be harvested into his barn and the weeds tied up in bundles to be burned (Mt 13:30, 39). Believers who profess to carry out their life of faith with the word of God as their standard must discern clearly between these two seeds as their outcomes are very different. If Jesus' promised time of harvest is taking place today, one should ask oneself to which of these two seeds he or she belongs.
