The definition of a 'true believer'
Throughout the 6000 years of Biblical history, there have been many people who believed in God, but few people who believed in God's promise. What defines a true believer from God's perspective?
When a parent makes and fulfils a promise to their child, they prove themselves faithful and give their child confidence that they'll fulfil future promises. Similarly, in every Biblical era, God always fulfilled His promises to His chosen people. God fulfilled His promise to Abraham (Gen 15) 400 years later through His promised pastor, Moses, and He also fulfilled His promise made to the Old Testament prophets BC600-1000 by sending His son and promised pastor, Jesus Christ (Jn 19:30). Before Jesus bore the cross for the sin of humanity, he made a new (final) promise to return with his promised pastor (Mt 24:45, Rv 3:12). Today, this new promise recorded in Revelation is being fulfilled through Jesus' promised messenger who has been making known the fulfilment of all the promises in Revelation that he has seen and heard (Rv 22:8,16). Would you have believed in Jesus as someone who appeared according to God's promise in the Old Testament 2000 years ago? Would you believe in Jesus' promised pastor today who is making known the entire fulfilment of Revelation?
