Distinguishing the two types of seed in the Bible

by - 13:46

'War'. This is one word that can be used to describe the Bible. This war has been taking place between God and Satan throughout the 6000 years of Biblical history from Genesis to Revelation. Although God has been working to heal and restore all creation since the fall of man through choosing one promised pastor, His people have continued to sin and Satan has reigned over the earth. Death has since reigned supreme.

God realised that people born of man’s (physical) seed could not resolve this problem of sin and death, so He promised to send a Saviour through the Old Testament prophets (Isaiah-Malachi). God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, who was conceived through the spirit (Mt 1:21). Jesus came to sow God’s seed at the first coming 2000 years ago (Mt 13:24) to fulfil what He had promised through His prophet Jeremiah (Jer 31:27). This seed is the ‘word’ (Lk 8:11), so what Jesus sowed into believers’ hearts was the word of God that would put an end to sin at an appointed time. Although the religious authorities of that time were meant to guide believers' on the right path, Jesus told them their father was the devil, making them children of the devil (Jn 8:44). This is because they were sowing the seed of lies into their followers’ hearts. These were lies about the word of God. They persecuted Jesus and hung him on a cross. Throughout Biblical history, those born of man’s seed have always persecuted those born of God’s seed. Will it be any different today?

After Jesus ascended to heaven, he promised that a harvest would take place (Rv 14:14-16). Today, the fruits of the seed that Jesus sowed 2000 years ago are being harvested into the church promised by God and Jesus in Revelation (Rv 14) and are being sealed with God’s word of truth (Rv 7). This is where God’s will of healing all people will finally be fulfilled.
