Controversy over 'Pressuring of Local Government Officials' by the Conniving "Cult Counselling Centre" and "National Association of Victims of Shincheonji" in Korea

[Cheonji Ilbo = Reporter Kim Bit-na, Kim Ji-hyun] Controversy is arising as a leading official from the 'Cult Counselling Centre', who participated in a protest organised by the National Association of Victims of Shincheonji (Jeonpyeon), pressed the governors of Chungnam Province for an interview.
The head of the 'cult counselling centre' in Chungnam province, named 'Mr. A', pressured local government officials to a phone call, which he uploaded on YouTube.
In the video, the public official was informed out of the blue that the content of their call would be uploaded on YouTube, even though Mr. A had not secured prior permission. When an objection was raised, Mr. A caused a commotion and raised his voice, saying, "What's your problem?"
According to the YouTube video recording that features an interview with the governor of Chungnam province published in Cheonji Ilbo last month, Mr. A called the Chungnam governor's office and asked, “Is the Governor giving recognition to Shincheonji? Is the Governor now part of Shincheonji?"
The public official's secretary has since remarked that “There was no logic in connecting the Governor to Shincheonji", and added, “many other people have taken part in interviews with Cheonji Ilbo.” Mr. A then concluded that Cheonji Ilbo is a Shincheonji publication. He exclaimed, “Is it okay that Cheonji Ilbo carries out interviews with other people?", and went on to state to the public official, "Since you lack so much common sense, I think your ability to work efficiently is very limited”.
The secretary's office communicated with the Public Affairs Office, who stated, "the reporter for Cheonji Ilbo is an access reporter, and there was no problem with the written interview." Mr. A. then spoke with the public affairs officer. When the head of public affairs also conducted a written interview and confirmed that there had been no problem, Mr. A shouted at its lead representative, saying, "Didn't you know they're a Shincheonji newspaper?" He then threatened to upload the call on YouTube.
When the public affairs officer raised the recording issue, Mr. A replied, "What's wrong with uploading it on YouTube?"
As a result of our interview, it has been revealed that Mr. A, who pressured Chungnam province officials for an interview with this paper, works as head of the 'cult counselling centre' in Chungnam. The 'cult counselling centre' is a place where people make money through coercive conversion projects targeted against Shincheonji adherents.
On the 2nd, Mr. A participated in a protest organised by the National Association of Victims of Shincheonji (Jeonpyeon) where he made public slanderous remarks on issues related to coercive conversion.
Cheonji Ilbo has recently dealt with the saga of Jeonpyeon, whose members, in collusion with the 'cult counselling centre', make attempts to forcibly convert their adult Shincheonji-believing children through acts of kidnap, confinement and assault.
Meanwhile, in 2016, the court dismissed the fiscal application of Mr. Jo, an expert at the Korean Institute Counselling Association, who alleged that 'Cheonji Ilbo is a Shincheonji newspaper' and made other related accusations. As a result, all legal controversy on this matter has formally ended. The judgments related to Cheonji Ilbo and Mr. Jo in Mr. A's video were from 2011, and the court did not conclude that this newspaper belonged to Shincheonji at that time.
