Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church) has issued a statement in light of the recent trial regarding its alleged violation of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, dated 13th January 2021:-

[Regarding Chairman’s Sentencing from the First Trial]
We welcome the court’s decision that found Chairman Lee innocent of the charge regarding the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
However, we find the court’s decision that acknowledged criminality in other charges, including embezzlement, deeply regrettable and disappointing.
For the charges that have not been ruled innocent, we plan to actively prove his innocence through the appeals process, and stand trial before a court of law once again.
On a separate note, we promise to continue in our effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic, and diligently serve as light and salt of the world.
Lastly, we apologize to the citizens of this nation for causing worries and concerns regarding this matter.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus was considered the cause of the initial pandemic that occurred at their Daegu church on February 18th 2020. Soon afterwards, Chairman Man Hee Lee issued an apology to the people and cooperated with the government's large-scale effort. Shincheonji Church has in fact curtailed the spread of the disease and, since July 2020, over 4000 of its recovered church members have voluntarily donated blood plasma through three group donations, which is the most important step in the development of a 'blood treatment' to eradicate COVID-19. One Shincheonji Church member named Mr. Cho, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 after exhibiting mild cough-like symptoms in February 2020, has made nine blood plasma donations.

Nearly one year has passed since the outbreak of the pandemic and there is no evidence of further infections spread within Shincheonji Church as all branch churches were immediately closed and strict prohibition of face-to-face worship services and meetings was enforced

In addition, Shincheonji Church held an 'Online Prayer Meeting For Global Eradication of COVID-19' on September 2nd, 16th, and November 15th to gather the hearts of religious people all around the world.

Shincheonji Church will continue to fulfil its role as the salt and light of the earth. In the words of Jun-wook Kwon, deputy head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KDCA - National Institute of Health), who attended Shincheonji Church's third blood plasma donation at Daegu Athletics Promotion Center stadium, "This blood plasma donation by believers of Shincheonji Church, who have now recovered from COVID-19, will make an indelible contribution to overcoming this pandemic and, eventually, eradicate it." Mr. Kwon added, Clinical trials for various treatments are ongoing, and we hope that the voluntary and active example set by Shincheonji Church members today will serve as an example to all citizens."

  4. I'm innocent~~ It's amazing that 4,000 people in this age are suffering from plasma donations in the midst of a false accusation!
    I got your back :)

  5. 4,000 Shincheonji people donated plasma for Korea. But the state believe they're guilty...Does that make sense?

  6. Anyone with sensibility and consciousness would be able to see that they aren’t guilty of what they are blamed for. Hope we overcome this difficult time in unity instead of scapegoating each other...!!

  7. Who would ever want to spread virus throughout the country?? They did their best to cooperate with the government. We should stop blaming specific church or group and do our best wherever we are.

  8. Despite being the same Christianity, other denominations confirm the fact that it is a faction, and it is interesting to say nothing about this.

  9. It is not easy for as many as 4,000 people to gather their minds for plasma donation.
It seems natural to be innocent in this situation.
