Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Gangneung branch conducts 'More is Better' campaign activity for emotional wellbeing
“Thanks to the 'More is Better' volunteer work, I was able to tell my family for the first time, ‘I'm grateful for you always being by my side.’”
These are the words of a citizen who attended the ‘More is Better’ volunteer activity held by the Gangneung branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group in celebration of Family Month on Wolhwa Street in Gangneung City, Republic of Korea, on the 17th May.
South Korea ranks 52 out of 143 countries on the happiness index announced by the United Nations this year, due in no small part to the lack of communication with family.
Accordingly, the Gangneung branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group prepared various activities, including 'plant therapy' through the process of repotting companion plants, to help people feel happiness in their hearts and foster greater harmony among their families by sharing words of love and gratitude that they could not normally express.
Geun-chang Lee, head of the Gangneung branch, said, “We hope that Gangneung will become a happy city where people joyfully communicate with each other.”
Meanwhile, 'More is Better' is a project of hope in which both volunteers and beneficiaries receive emotional healing through companion plants and unites all members of society regardless of age or standing, and is one of the regular volunteer activities of Shincheonji Volunteer Group.
