Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Cheonan Branch Breathes ‘New Life’ into Old Walls
From April 27th to May 11th, and in response to the request of local residents, the Cheonan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group conducted a mural volunteer service called ‘Wall Story’ in a housing complex near Cheonan Seobu Station.
'Wall Story', in its 11th year, is one of the three major projects of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, and is a mural painting volunteer activity conducted by 73 branches throughout South Korea. It is an urban regeneration project that restores dilapidated murals through drawings and paintings, depicting characteristics specific to local regions and the stories of local residents. The themes and pictures designed on the murals are decorated at the request of the beneficiaries.
A mural volunteer beneficiary (82, female, Seongjeong neighbourhood) said following completion of the mural service, “The once bleak wall has been filled with beautiful paintings and was beautifully completed.”
An official from the Cheonan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group said, “We hope this will serve as an attraction for residents to gather and communicate together.”
Meanwhile, the Cheonan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group is carrying out various social services, including the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' campaign to commemorate the souls of war veterans who died for the peace of Korea, particularly during the Korean War, and to promote a world of peace without conflict.
