Further Reports from Australia, Germany, Italy & Others on the Second Blood Plasma Donation by Shincheonji Church Daegu for Life-saving COVID-19 Cure

Global media outlets in, among others, Australia, Germany and Italy have reported the second blood plasma donation by Shincheonji Church in Daegu, Republic of Korea. By the end of this week, 1700 recovered congregants of Shincheonji Church will have donated their blood plasma as global media outlets continue to publish reports. This second collective blood plasma donation by Shincheonji Church congregants in Daegu, South Korea, will aid research and development into a vaccine as a second domestic outbreak erupts throughout the country. The initial group donation was made by 628 church members from July 13th-17th 2020, broadcast as follows:-

Upon completion of this second collective blood plasma donationtaking place from August 27th-September 4th 2020 (weekend excluded) at the Daegu Athletics Promotion Center, some 1700 recovered church members will have donated their blood plasma with Shincheonji Church intent on making a total of 4000 donations in the global effort for a vaccine.

Since the initial confirmed cases from February 2020 onwards, Shincheonji Church has expressed its sorrow at the hurt and concern caused by COVID-19 on Korean citizens and has pledged to work in close cooperation with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) to overcome this difficult situation and help find a vaccine.

Chairman Man Hee Lee (photo above) has encouraged active participation from members who have completely recovered to donate their plasma through a letter dated August 25th by saying, “Let us lead the effort in plasma donation so that the blood (plasma) of the congregation members who have been atoned for their sins by the blood of Jesus can be used for overcoming COVID-19 for the citizens and the country.”

* Donation Period: August 27th (Thu) - September 4th (Fri) – for 7 days (except Saturday and Sunday)
* Time: 9AM-5PM
* Location: Daegu Athletics Promotion Center (Misulgwan-ro 88 Suseong-gu, Daegu)
* Following members’ requests, please be advised that no photos of the plasma donors’ front or side facial views can be taken.

August 27th - Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji) announced that the Daegu Athletic Center will hold the second group plasma donation to continue the development of COVID-19 treatment from August 27th to September 4th.

Kwon Jun-wook, Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (KCDC) Deputy Director, said in a briefing, "I am grateful to Daegu City for providing a place for group blood donation and to the members of Shincheonji, a religious group in Daegu who revealed their intention to participate in the donation of plasma."

The country has reported 441 new COVID-19 cases today, including 434 local infections, the highest since the outbreak in March, raising the total infected to 18,706.

According to Shincheonji, a total of 1,100 members of the Daegu Church, who have been completely cured of COVID-19, will participate in the plasma donation. Earlier on July 13-17th, 628 members of the Daegu Church participated in the plasma donation. This will bring the total to 1,728 participants from the church.

In a letter on the 25th, Lee Man-Hee, Chairman of the church, said, “Let's take the lead in plasma donation so that the blood of the saints who have been condemned by Jesus' blood can be used to defeat COVID-19."

"The Shincheonji Church of Jesus has not forgotten its apologies for causing harm to the people from a large number of confirmed cases between February and March," a Shincheonji official said. "We will continue to work closely with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to make every effort to defeat COVID-19."
