The South Korean Government and Shincheonji Church of Jesus: Personal Data Breach Report
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea, the leakage of personal data belonging to thousands of Shincheonji Church of Jesus congregation members has led to a serious infringement of human rights issues resulting in forced leave of absence, discrimination and insult. Shincheonji Church members affected by this leak of personal information can file a complaint to their respective local government, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), local police and the National Human Rights Commission of Korea with any supporting evidence. All cases will be collected and dealt with strict legal action.
In spite of such widespread discrimination, 4000 Shincheonji Church congregants in Daegu have not forsaken their principles but willingly agreed to donate their blood plasma to save life. Should the government and Korean press continue to spew malicious slander against Shincheonji Church, they may lose the opportunity to save tens of thousands of lives.
Chairman Lee of Shincheonji Church said, “I promised to cooperate for the benefit of humanity and the government’s policy and conferred with our church members so that the estimated 4,000 congregants who recovered from COVID-19 can provide their plasma to develop a good medicine to solve this infectious disease.”
