Shincheonji Volunteer Group donates 4000 books in Daegu-Gyeongbuk (Gyeongbuk Newspaper)

On 19th December 2019, Gyeongbuk Newspaper published an article entitled “Shincheonji Volunteer Group donates 4000 books in Daegu-Gyeongbuk.” This is a translation of that article.
Shincheonji Volunteer Group makes a mass book donation of some 3200 books to 90 places including government offices, libraries and private institutions

On 13th December, Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Daegu, visited the local Ministry of Labour Welfare to donate 1000 books (see photo above).

Shincheonji Volunteer Group donated thousands of books to 90 places including government offices, military units, and private institutions in December under the theme 'Let's go, Let's Play, Let's Make Peace'. It drew much attention.

Book donations by Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, were made to the following: Ministry of Labour Welfare, Daegu (1000); Central Library (300); Cathedral POSCO Library (300); Marine Corps, Pohang (1000); Saemaul Undong Council, Pohang (300); and a further 4150 books to a total of 12 institutions that include Hyowon Senior Welfare Center, Gumi (200) and CNB National Broadcasting Assembly (300).

Shincheonji Volunteer Group's peace initiatives - 'Voluntary Reading Culture' and 'Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Make Peace' - will be held annually nationwide.

Myung-seok Choi , Director of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, said, "We are donating books for the betterment of society; laying down our smartphones and instead picking up a book amidst today's age of online information. We will always contribute freely without cost to the betterment of our communities, like the light, rain and air.”

In other news, Shincheonji Volunteer Group, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, recently signed an agreement with the Korean Red Cross' Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center to create a culture of regular blood donations. This is creating a diverse culture of service.
