On the 12th July, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Incheon Branch cleans the sewer pipes along the street by Dongincheon Station.

On July 12th, at the request of the Incheon Volunteer Center, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Incheon branch conducted a sewer cleanup in the area around Dongincheon Station in Incheon City, Korea. Amid consistent domestic summer heatwaves, the cleanup was also actioned to prepare for localised heavy rain and for environmental protection.

On that day, 25 members of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Incheon branch rolled up their sleeves to remove litter, including a high number of cigarette butts, and fallen leaves caught in the rainwater drains.

Meanwhile, the area around Dongincheon Station is one in which flooding commonly occurs due to the low-lying area and frequent clogging of the rainwater drain. Jae-yeon Kim, a citizen who saw the sewer being cleaned, said, “I was surprised to see the amount of discarded cigarette butts while the pipes were being cleaned, and I often worry about frequent flooding when there is heavy rain, so I’m grateful for your hard work on this hot day.”

Meanwhile, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Eastern Incheon branch continued to conduct a cleanup of rainwater drains in various local spots throughout the summer.
