Shincheonji Daegu Church Women's Group (Thaddeus Tribe) launches 'traditional market revitalisation' campaign
[Cheonji Ilbo Daegu=Reporter Hae-in Song] Shincheonji Daegu Church Women's Group announced on the 11th that they had started 'saving the traditional market' ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 7th, about 1,000 members of the women's group of Shincheonji Daegu Church visited traditional markets such as Dongseo, Bongdeok, Gwanmun, and Paldalmun Markets to revive the local traditional market stores by conducting the 'Traditional Market Revitalisation Campaign'. It received a great response from shop owners.
Shincheonji Daegu Church Women's Group started to revive the traditional Seonam Market and Paldal Market in November last year. Purchases have accumulated tens of millions of Korean won for the Korean Lunar New Year and has set an example for the revitalisation of the local commercial district.
The head of Bongdeok Market said, “As I monitored them from the office, the way Daegu Church women’s group, wearing masks of the same colour, were going through the market buying goods was so orderly. I was really grateful for their care.”
An official from Shincheonji Daegu Church said, “In order to help the local traditional market economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, the Daegu Church Women’s Group, who are predominantly housewives, got on their feet and worked from the heart.”
Meanwhile, Shincheonji Daegu Church Women's Group plans to continue carrying out the 'Traditional Market Revitalization Campaign' once a month by preparing various cultural events with local residents.
