[Cheonji Ilbo Pyeongtaek=Reporter Hee-ju Noh] Pyeongtaek Church (John Tribe) of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, held a special photo exhibition of the graduation ceremony of Class 113 of Zion Christian Mission Center from the 20th to the 24th in the main hall.
The graduation ceremony of the Zion Christian Mission Center, a Bible education institution run by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, was held at Daegu Stadium on the 20th of last month. On that day, 106,186 graduates completed the entire course in just one year, drawing attention.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus' branch churches across South Korea planned a photo exhibition to vividly convey the scenes on that day.
The Shincheonji Pyeongtaek Church photo exhibition was held under the following themes: ▲ Safety, Order, Kindness in Hall 1 ▲ Growth of Shincheonji in Hall 2 ▲ Blood Donation and MOU Signing in Hall 3.
In the first exhibition hall, you can see a procession of 2,500 buses departing sequentially from all over the country from dawn and entering the stadium with crowd safety as the top priority over 4 hours. The docent, who led the first exhibition, explained that it was the first large-scale face-to-face event held since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and has set an example in crowd safety by ending without a single incident.
According to the docent, the two graduates who presented their testimonials on behalf of all 106,186 graduates were pastors of mainstream church denominations.
In addition, the celebratory 'Cheongdo Chasan Nongak (Nongak: Korean Traditional Farmers' Music)' performance and Samulnori, a card section with 12 jewel lights, graduates flying colourful balloons in the sky, and photos from overseas graduation ceremonies were all exhibited.
If you move to the second exhibition hall, you can see photos of graduates with bright and happy faces.
On one side of the wall was written the question, 'Why did you choose Shincheonji Church of Jesus?' According to the docent, the 106,186 graduates who all completed the Zion Christian Mission Center course answered questions, and the majority of graduates answered 'clarity of the words of the Bible and a life of faith that puts those words into practice, evidence of the prophecies of the Bible and the fulfilled realities of those prophecies'. “Such reality can only be seen in this church,” the docent said.
Previously, in 2019, Shincheonji Church of Jesus also produced 103,764 graduates in just one year, including graduates from Australia. In addition, even at a time when society was at a standstill due to COVID-19 and the membership of religious groups was rapidly declining, the Zion Christian Mission Center produced about 20,000 graduates year on year, showing steady growth. And in 2022, three years later, another 100,000 completed the curriculum.
Next, a display of the history and growth of Shincheonji Church of Jesus and a video of the students at the graduation ceremony was exhibited and shown.
In the third exhibition, which is the last one, you can find images of deeds that spread light and love to the world according to the words of Jesus.
Due to the lack of blood resulting from the stagnant COVID-19, in October, Shincheonji Volunteer Group 'We Are One' set a Guinness World Record for registering the most online blood donor applicants in 24 hours. The docent explained the motivation for the Guinness challenge, saying, “If this unprecedented blood donation drive is made known to the whole world outside Korea, many young people not only in Korea but also around the world will be encouraged to participate in donating blood.”
The blood donation drive by Shincheonji Church of Jesus has been going on steadily for a long time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when everyone was under adversity, from July to December 2020, blood plasma donations were made for the development of a treatment. In addition, 18,819 members donated blood in 18 days from April 18th to May 4th, and 32,324 blood donations were made. In addition, from August to November, blood donations were conducted simultaneously across the country through the 'Life ON Blood Donation Campaign', and blood donation cards and vouchers worth 100 million Korean Won (c.£65,000) were gifted.
In addition, Shincheonji Church of Jesus recently conducted an online seminar on the prophecy of the Book of Revelation and its fulfilment. Accordingly, churches and pastors in South Korea and abroad are learning the Word of God as they have entered into an MOU with Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Currently, 125 pastors from 90 churches in Korea and 3,000 pastors from 67 countries overseas have signed MOUs with Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Upon signing the MOU, educational materials for the introductory, intermediate, and advanced level courses of the Mission Center are being provided free of charge to pastors in South Korea and abroad.
After watching the Shincheonji Youth Volunteer Group's We Are One video, learning about the meaning of the graduation ceremony, the photo zone, the biblical meaning of graduation clothes, the official name of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, and the meaning of the turning of the tassel, the third exhibition plan will come to an end.
If you go up to the second floor, there is a place where you can have refreshments and chat.
Citizens reacted to the photo exhibition, speaking highly of it, and that the misunderstandings had been resolved.
Ji-won Choi (pseudonym, 20s, Wongok-dong, Anseong city, Gyeonggi province), who came to experience the photo exhibition, said, “I think the way I would feel being there in person is different from how I felt through the photo exhibition. If there is an opportunity, I'd like to go to the actual site.”
Another visitor, Anna Heo (pseudonym, 30s, Wonpyeong-dong, Pyeongtaek city, Gyeonggi province) said, “I felt that the church paid a lot of attention to crowd safety while seeing the photo exhibition. After coming here and seeing and hearing it with my own eyes, my misunderstandings seem to be resolved.”
A member of Pyeongtaek Church who attended the photo exhibition said, “I went to the actual 100,000 graduation ceremony, so seeing the photo exhibition vividly reminded me of that day. I was touched.”
Seonghoon Lee, head instructor of Pyeongtaek Church (John tribe) said, “Shincheonji Church of Jesus held its second 100,000 graduation ceremony on November 20, 2022 following the 100,000 graduation ceremony in 2019. It marks the largest number of graduates by any theological institution in history, 106,186, which is an unprecedented achievement.” He spoke of his feelings about holding the photo exhibition, “It is a special feeling holding the photo exhibition of the 100,000 graduation ceremony because we could share the excitement of that day with the citizens of Pyeongtaek.”
“Through this special photo exhibition, I hope that those who have had negative perceptions or prejudices about Shincheonji or who do not know much about Shincheonji will shift their perceptions to positive ones,” he said.
