On 7th June, at the entrance of the Hwanggeumsan Children's Forest Experience Center in Dasan 2-dong, Namyangju City, a child is writing and posting a message of gratitude to the martyrs and fallen heroes who dedicated themselves to the nation during the 'Great Heroes, We Remember' campaign.
The month of June serves as a significant period for national remembrance in South Korea, anchoring civic duties around the sacrifices of fallen patriots and veterans. To bridge the gap between historical remembrance and modern civic awareness, regional branches of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group organised localised educational and supportive events on and around 6th June, the 71st Memorial Day (Hyeonchungil).

In particular, the Namyangju Branch held its "Great Heroes, We Remember" campaign at the entrance of the Hwanggeumsan Children's Forest Experience Centre in Dasan 2-dong, Namyangju City, focusing on making the meaning of Memorial Day accessible to daily visitors.

The branch implemented an educational programme in the form of instructional sessions provided to around 70 citizens, including families, on the correct protocol for hoisting the national flag (Taegeukgi), as well as an explanation of the symbolic meanings behind its components, such as the philosophical representations of the red (yang) and blue (yin) sections, and a series of booths, including making pinwheel Taegeukgi flags, flag colouring, and writing thank-you messages to patriots who gave their lives for the peace of the country.

Educational display boards introducing topics like "Choosing the Correct Taegeukgi" and "The Difference Between Patriotic Martyrs and Fallen Heroes" were also set up.

The campaign left a marked impression on participating citizens. Participant Young-min Yoov (45, Dasan-dong, Namyangju) said, “I learned about national symbols properly by personally selecting and drawing the Taegeukgi design with my child.” Eun-ju Kim (43, Dasan-dong, Namyangju) said, “Thanks to the programme tailored to children’s perspectives, I think we will be able to naturally continue conversations about peace and veterans’ affairs at home as well.”

Meanwhile, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to hold numerous initiatives to foster empathy for the meaning of veterans' affairs and raise historical awareness through hands-on programmes.
