On the 12th July, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Dongdaemun Branch took a commemorative photo with three foreigners, including Bangladeshis and Russians, at the "Love Your Country, Share Peace" event held in front of the Donguibogam Tower in Seoul

In present-day South Korea, where the contribution of Korean War veterans who dedicated their lives for the peace of the country is often overlooked, one organisation is working hard to widely publicise and record their noble deeds through memorial ceremonies, campaigns, and events - the Shincheonji Volunteer Group.

In commemoration of Patriot & Veterans Month (June), the Dongdaemun branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group opened an experience booth with the theme of ‘Love Your Country, Share Peace’ outside Donguibogam Tower, Seoul, on the 12th July.

On that day, over 90 people, including local residents, students, and foreign tourists, partook in a range of activities that allowed participants to reflect on the meaning of history and peace firsthand, including making handprint Taegeukgi (national flag), writing thank-you letters, and completing a map of the famed Rose of Sharon ('Peace' rose initially created to commemorate the end of World War 2).

Bangladeshi tourist Mustapha (29, male), said, “I learned through experience that peace is not something that is just given, and I felt that even though we come from different countries, we all have the same heart to fight for freedom and peace.”

Won-hee Kim (39, female), a parent who participated with her child, said, “It was a meaningful time for my child to directly feel gratitude and pride that cannot be learned from textbooks.”

Meanwhile, since 2015, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group has held the 'Love Your Country, Share Peace' campaign nationwide in the month of June (Patriot & Veterans Month) in order to raise civic awareness of the noble sacrifice of war veterans who died for the peace of Korea and to promote a world of peace without conflict.
