“We were worried about the cold this winter because we had run out of briquettes, so we are really grateful for the briquette donation this time.”

Amid arctic temperatures and heavy snowfall that has blanketed much of South Korea, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Eastern Seoul Branch (hereinafter referred to as Eastern Seoul Branch) rolled up its sleeves and carried out a coal briquette-sharing service for the Peace House in Nowon District, Seoul. A representative of the Peace House said the above.

Through this volunteer service, the Eastern Seoul Branch provided 150 briquettes and 120L of heating oil to senior residents in Nowon District, helping them stay warm during the stubborn winter.

Moreover, the Eastern Seoul Branch provided hairdressing and beauty services to the senior residents, helping them maintain their self-esteem and healthy daily lives.

In particular, this volunteer service was carried out in a way that the briquettes received by existing beneficiaries were passed on to other neighbours in need, creating a virtuous cycle of sharing.

Meanwhile, this activity was held as part of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group's 'Shoulder Comrade' project, which is a campaign activity that supports the marginalised through a regular volunteer service with the meaning of standing shoulder to shoulder with one's neighbour.

The Shincheonji Volunteer Group is active in 77 branches in South Korea and has 350,000 members. With love and peace as its basic spirit, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group carries out (global) social contribution projects in various fields including the environment, veterans' affairs, disabled sector, public interest and culture, transcending religion, race and national borders.
