“Many people say that Shincheonji is a cult, but after listening to the words of Chairman ManHee Lee, I realised that the cult was actually they themselves (who persecuted Shincheonji as a cult).” “I reflected a lot” “From now on, I will study the Word properly.”
These are confessions from pastors who attended the '2024 Shincheonji Bible Seminar on the Testimony of the Fulfillment of Revelation' held by Shincheonji Church of Jesus at the Shincheonji Yeongdeungpo Church of the Bartholomew Tribe in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on the 5th October.
400 pastors and seminarians came from all over the country to hear Chairman ManHee Lee of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, who is 94 years of age, take to the pulpit to testify the Word of God with conviction, centred on the Book of Revelation, preaching powerfully for nearly ninety minutes.
Chairman Lee began his sermon by calling the pastors “brothers in faith” and invited them to “listen in a comfortable manner, as if we were friends having open dialogue.”
Chairman Lee cited the ‘Word of Truth’ as the secret to Shincheonji’s continued growth, saying, “Shincheonji has the truth, that is, the word of God’s eternal life,” and “Understanding the words of Revelation is not a personal matter - it determines whether we live or die, whether we receive eternal life or eternal punishment.” He added, “If I have taught wrongly, we must repent, be born again and become one in God.”
Chairman Lee also emphasised, “Not everyone who says ‘I believe’ will go to heaven. You must do God’s will to go to heaven,” and urged, “Let’s go to heaven by doing God’s will as written in the Book of Revelation.”
There is an evaluation that this general assembly chairman's call for repentance is similar to 'Jonah' in the Old Testament. Jonah, an Old Testament prophet, went to Nineveh according to God's command and called for repentance, and the people of Nineveh repented and were saved.
The pastors who heard Chairman Lee’s words expressed repentance and self-reflection. Pastor A of the Presbyterian Church said, “If a pastor teaches the Word incorrectly, those who listen to that sermon or lecture at church will also fall into the abyss, so in the end, that in itself is a great sin,” and added, “I have reflected a lot and I need to study the Word properly.”
Pastor A also said, “If you go to a regular church, there are few young people - most of them are older people,” and “The fact that young people are gathering in Shincheonji means that the foundation for the church’s future development has been laid.”
Pastor B of the Presbyterian Church said, “When I listened to Shincheonji’s words, I felt blessed by the systematic and logical word that I had never heard from any other denomination.” Pastor B, who signed an MOU with Shincheonji Church of Jesus, is currently studying the Book of Revelation and encouraging fellow pastors to listen to the revealed word from Shincheonji. “These words must be spread to the world,” he said.
Meanwhile, whenever Shincheonji holds a Bible seminar, pastors line up. This year alone, 1040 pastors have attended. Pastors are not only listening to the sermon, but also actively interacting with Shincheonji. As of the end of last month, 747 churches in Korea and 13,127 churches in 84 countries overseas signed MOUs for biblical exchange with Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Among the pastors who listened to the sermon, 1,448 churches in 43 countries voluntarily changed their church signs to those of Shincheonji Church of Jesus.
