✦ 'Good Giving, Better Living' Campaign
The Cheongju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group (managed by Jae-jun Byun) donated groceries to the Chungcheongbuk branch of the Defoliant Veterans' Association of Korea on April 15, 2022.
The charitable service is designed to foster a warm neighbourly service in a world afflicted by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), spreading a culture of giving. Food items such as ramen noodles donated on this day were prepared with donations collected through the 'Good Donation, Good Consumption' campaign.
The 'Good Donation, Good Consumption' campaign is a voluntary initiative in which the proceeds of sales from stores that have signed an agreement with Shincheonji Volunteer Group go towards supporting the local economy, with proceeds going towards community projects.
Gwang-sik Lim, the head of the Chungbuk branch of the Defoliation Veterans' Association, said, “Shincheonji Volunteer Group’s diligent service and contribution warms my heart.” He added, “I hope that the Defoliant Veterans' Association and Shincheonji Volunteer Group will continue collaborating on this volunteer work after COVID-19 subsides.”
An official from Shincheonji Volunteer Group said, “I am pleased to be able to support the Defoliant Veterans' Association, who have made great sacrifices and contributions for the country.”
The Cheongju branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group is carrying out various social activities, such as providing sanitisation services and sharing peace and love for the country, in addition to the 'Good Donation, Good Consumption' Campaign.
The Defoliant Veterans' Association of the Republic of Korea is an organisation formed to promote the rights and interests of veterans who suffered harm from defoliant (weed killer for dead vegetation) during the Vietnam War and to restore their honour. The organisation actively strives for a better society by promoting various social activities such as school violence prevention campaigns, environmental campaigns, and neighbourly assistance throughout the Lunar New Year holidays.
