New York Times' Full-Page Ad on Shincheonji Church's 3 Blood Plasma Donations for Treatment and Vaccine of COVID-19

The New York Times has published a full-page advertisement on Shincheonji Church's three-time group blood plasma donation. About 4000 congregants of Shincheonji Church in Daegu, South Korea, are currently participating in a group blood plasma donation conducted at Daegu Athletics Promotion Center that began on 16th November and will run until 4th December 2020.

Treatment and a vaccine for the virus is becoming an urgent necessity as global cases and deaths are rapidly on the rise. Scientists and healthcare workers are working round the clock though, as of yet, there is no vaccine or proven cure to stop this virus, which is why it is so important to develop blood plasma treatment through a group plasma donation as quickly as possible. No other organisation has as high a number of recovered individuals as Shincheonji Church.

After thousands of Shincheonji Church congregants were infected with the virus mid-February 2020 (mainly in Daegu), the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) submitted an official request to Shincheonji Church for their plasma donation. Shincheonji Church responded with an initial donation by 500 Daegu church members (video below).

In regard to the current donation, Jun-Wook Kwon, Deputy Head of the KCDC, said:-
“The blood plasma donation by congregants of Shincheonji Church of Jesus who have recovered from COVID-19 will ultimately make a great contribution towards ending the Coronavirus pandemic. Their deeds and acts will lead by example.”

He added:-
“I am grateful to members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus for their participation in this blood plasma donation, to the Korean Red Cross who have provided personnel, and to Daegu Metropolitan City for providing the venue. Such efforts will contribute greatly to securing a treatment sooner rather than later and will be of great help in preventing the spread of COVID-19.”

A Shincheonji Church official said, "We believe that the power to overcome COVID-19 lies in tolerance, love and unity and we will continue to donate our plasma for the development of a treatment. We look forward to accelerating treatment.”
