Shincheonji Volunteer Group (SVG) and the Daejeon-Chungcheong Alliance co-hosted the 'Love for All Nations and Sharing of Peace' on June 6th 2019 at Daedong's Yuseong Hot Spring Park Duryum Hall to celebrate their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) peace agreement.
This is the sixth successive year that SVG has organised such an event. This particular event underlined the importance of reconciliation and unification in what has been a tragic history between the Koreas. The celebration featured a photographic exhibition of the Korean War, a detailed exhibition of this bloody conflict and a lecture on the tragic reality of life in that era, drawing in local residents of Daejeon city and Chungcheong province. The hope for peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula was promoted through face-painting, pinwheel making and calligraphy activities, as well as various cultural performances.
One citizen who participated in the event with his family said: "A few days ago, leaders at the Hanoi Summit gathered on national television to discuss ways forward for peace. I think that reunification and peace on the Korean peninsula is right in front of our eyes. I want to pass on a bright and peaceful future to my children rather than a history of brutal conflict."
SVG also signed MOUs for peace with Korean War Veterans Association and several culture-promoting organisations.
An SVG representative said: "We've been holding 'Love for All Nations and Sharing of Peace' celebrations annually, but every time we hold it, we feel a new and ever-rising wind of peace. We look forward to a day of peace."
Shincheonji Volunteer Group's Daejeon branch continues to act as the light and salt of the community with its many various initiatives including, and not limited to, 'Door2Door Healthcare' and 'Wall-Painting Stories With Hope' programmes for the improvement of others' wellbeing.
