The Corruption of the Pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) and CBS

Drug dealing, drink-driving, fraud, sexual assault and murder: these are not crimes one would typically associate with a religious leader. Yet, in the last four years, 531 pastors from South Korea's main Christian body - the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) - have been sentenced for such crimes. Yes, pastors.

What are the roots of the CCK? Founded in December 1989, the CCK is based on the Presbyterian teachings of the 16th century theologian, John Calvin. Following the division of Protestantism into many denominations that included Presbyterianism, Calvin asserted his theory of predestination and killed men, women and children who opposed his beliefs. Much later, during the Japanese occupation of Korea (1910-1945), the Presbyterian Church sided with the occupiers by bowing down to their shrines and even acted as informants by selling them weapons for use against their own people. In the same way that Israel had been divided into two after King Solomon worshipped false gods (1Kings 11), Korea was also divided. The subsequent bloody and fratricidal Korean War (1950-1953) tore families apart and has left an indelible scar on the Korean people.

Since its establishment in December 1989, CCK has slandered Shincheonji Church as “anti-nation, anti-religion, anti-social”. In addition to the above mentioned crimes, CCK pastors have sold positions of leadership in an attempt to keep a tight rein over their position and authority, bribed congregation members into voting for them at regional elections, and jostled for power within themselves, leading to an internal split and a significant fall in membership as congregation members leave their church.

Moreover, the CCK has shown little to no respect for matters of religious freedom enshrined within the Korean constitution (Article 20). Like Calvin, they force Shincheonji believers to convert to their Presbyterian doctrine. They have established and implemented a heinous coercive conversion programme which deceives parents into kidnapping, confining and subjecting their child to emotional and psychological abuse until they sign to agree to convert. To date, they have subjected 1200 people to this practice - two of whom were murdered by family members. This is the reality of Christianity in Korea today and an outright violation of human rights in the guise of religion. Following dozens of world rallies, the United Nations and global religious leaders have decried this practice and news is spreading. Who can be truly considered "anti-nation, anti-religion, anti-social"?

Furthermore, in alliance with Christian Broadcasting System (CBS), a documentary entitled People who fell into Shincheonji Church" was broadcast in March 2015 making numerous allegations about practices within Shincheonji Church. Following Shincheonji Church’s right of reply, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Shincheonji Church, finding these allegations groundless and ordering CBS to pay damages of 8million won (c.£5500) and retract their initial broadcast by broadcasting a correction report (which they did at 3am, while everyone was asleep - see article “'Exposing CBS' false claims that Shincheonji Church is ‘Anti-Nation, Anti-Social and Anti-Religion’”).

Moreover, CCK and CBS have allied to block Shincheonji Church's numerous works of peace that includes the erection of monuments for the reunification of Korea and the largest hand-printed Korean flag recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Who is "anti-nation, anti-religion, anti-social"?

Shincheonji Church has had to endure through various sufferings for many years since its establishment in March 1984. Its pastor has fought in the tragic Korean War and, since he was given the command by the heavens forty years ago, he has been testifying the fulfilment of the New Testament prophecies. He is now nearly 90 and is continuing to work with a heavy heart to expose the lies of the CCK and CBS in order to help waken peoples' minds and hearts to the truth about Shincheonji Church and the Bible. Shincheonji Church has invited the CCK to engage in public debate over the Bible on numerous occasions, but they have not once accepted this invitation. Why not?

As the truth is made known, more and more people are flocking in large numbers to Shincheonji Church to receive the word that flows from the mouth of the promised pastor. Judge for yourself according to the standard of the Bible. It is only a matter of time before the CCK and CBS, who have sown the seed of lies into the hearts of their congregation members, crumble and all its members set free. One should discern which church is anti-nation, anti-religion, anti-social according to the standard of the Bible and one’s actions.
