Today, over 6000 people of different races,
creed and age - who have completed an intensive six-month Bible study and
related 300-question exam - have graduated from Zion Christian Mission
Center class 108 and now belong to one of the twelve tribes of Shincheonji
Church. A further 20,000 are expected to graduate before the end of this year.
Why has Shincheonji Church grown from 120
congregation members at its founding in March 1984 to over 200,000 today located
across several hundred churches worldwide? And why does the Christian Council
of Korea (CCK) - founded in December 1989 - continue to diminish in number from
a peak of 12 million to 1.8 million today?
The main reason is that Shincheonji
Church is the place that God has promised in the New Testament. Because God is
the word (John 1:1), everything He intends to do - His promises and will - are
recorded in His word. Within the Book of Revelation, God promised to create a
new kingdom and people where there will be no more mourning, death, crying or
pain. This is the ‘New Heaven New Earth’ in Revelation 21. This process began
2600 years ago when God promised a “new thing” (Jeremiah 31:22). Jesus then
fulfilled this prophecy by sowing his seed in the religious world (Matthew 13)
and promised to return to harvest its fruit (Matthew 13:30). Today, according
to these promises, these firstfruits are being harvested (Revelation 14), sealed
with the word of God and belong to one of the twelve tribes of New Heaven New
Earth (Revelation 7). God tells us beforehand what He will do so that, when He
does it, we can believe (John 14;29). This is the highest truth.
Moreover, the word testified at
Shincheonji Church is done so through a promised pastor appointed by God and
promised by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago (Revelation 22:16). The teachings are
all according to the Bible without any external commentaries.
The CCK, on the other hand, is a Presbyterian
organisation founded in December 1989 with its teachings based that of John
Calvin who murdered men, women and children who opposed his beliefs on
predestination. They have split into several factions with hundreds of pastors embroiled
in inner conflict as they jostle for position and authority through bribery,
fraud, embezzlement, and other abuses of power. Over the last four years, more
than 500 CCK pastors have received sentences for such crimes. Like Calvin, they
murdered two people who refused to renounce their beliefs in Shincheonji Church
and divided thousands of families by deceiving parents into kidnapping,
confining and subjecting their child to emotional or psychological abuse
through their coercive conversion programmes. Their actions have already been
condemned by the United Nations. Instead of groundlessly labelling Shincheonji
Church and their own inner divided factions as a ‘cult’, I hope they can come
and listen to the word delivered at Shincheonji Church and be re-born with
God’s seed of truth. As Shincheonji Church continues to grow, the truth of
traditional Christianity in Korea today will be exposed to more and more people
and CCK will crumble. As CCK continues to decrease in number, the Zion Christian Mission Centers of Shincheonji Church of Jesus where people study the truth of the Bible is overflowing with people to the point that there is no more space for students.
